Spawn and leave.

Postby kronos » Wed Oct 21, 2009 9:38 am

I have always wondered why people spawn characters then without a word just leave on a random path. Ideas?

Yup!

"Oh no not this dung hole of a town." Leave, stop, starve... or just leave. :)

Edit : Some may want to be secritive about their spawning location? Dunno why they would be that tho...

I always thought it was dumb... and figured those that did were just trying to kill off the character without having people feed them or making the character go crazy and other things of that nature.

It could be a newbie who is eager to explore the world. It would be much more convenient if people were spawned as babies, then they couldn't walk for the first year and would be forced to adapt to the society.

I think many people are just trying the interface - they don't see any events on the moment the come in and they don't know they'll be traveling for ages when they leave the town ... Maybe they don't even return to Cantr after leaving the town ;-) ...

maybe there should be a message for first-time users who go travel warning them that it may take several days to arrive at the next destination :-P

For people absolutely new to the game, it's probably a mistake or impatience. I'd guess the majority of 'experienced' players do it to quietly kill off the character for whatever reason.

3 out of my 7 left their spawn location immediately and without a word. A 4th would have except she stayed to gather some supplies first.

Edit: I take that back, now that I think on it. 1 of them did speak to introduce himself and felt threatened by the only person who spoke back to him so he left without any explanation. So, technically only 2 of mine have spawned and run.

lmao

But anyway, I know the point of this was they say nothing but in my case I ask for food if there's none growing, and if I don't get food in 3-4 days and there is not hunting I leave because if I end up starving to death I can't make a replacement charachter and its a pain in the butt

As stated, often it is a new player, expecting immediate transportation to the next town. Sometimes they will turn round... then when they don't immediately get back, that's when they'll give up.
My chars have occasionally folllowed such people and warned them, especially if they're headed for mountains or deserts.

Maybe chars of new players should have an additional sentence in the description page, visible only to experienced players or people from departments, so they can go and talk to them, even if normally they wouldn't bother.
