Cantr Science

Just had a thought about the meteorological and astrological sciences in Cantr. Actually more like questions.
-Without Rping it, it's doesn't rain in Cantr. Are there any clouds?
-Again with RPing it, Does a sun exist? Day and night... What hours in Cantr do they happen.
Personally I don't think there are any clouds for the simple fact that we don't see
"2762-3.06: It is now raining"
so what would a cloud serve?
Same as day and night. Why would it get dark if you don't see the sun set? Maybe it doesn't. Couldn't be dark all the time or there would be no plants so there must be a sun.
Is there any general consensus to these?
I could start another suggestion thread about these... frankly I'm annoying myself with the suggestions. I want to hear your opinions.

There is a sun, because it's reflected in jewelry (and plants need it to grow, as you mentioned). Realistically, you need to play as though the sun is always out, especially if you have characters from different time zones in your location. I had fun with this once. One charrie was looking at the stars. Mine asked another what they saw in the sky, and they saw sun and clouds. An amusing discussion then ensued.
Since it's considered bad RP to impose things on other characters, it's always sunny in Cantr, and weather shouldn't exist.
However, I have seen features RP'd by group consensus. The pond in Karnon is a good example, the dragon people in Blit forest (?) are another. This isn't like weather, because if you don't want to deal with a pond or become a dragon person, you can ignore it. However, it's hard to ignore if another charrie tells yours that it's soaking wet from the rain

.
I think there are common sense assumptions you can make, though. If you're in the mountains, it would be common sense that it's cold. If you're in a hilly location adjacent to the sea without a sand resource, you could assume there are cliffs, or that the beach is rocky (especially if there's stone there). You can make reasonable assumptions about terrain based on the resources in that manner. One odd one, though, is the chromium trees in Kwor Forest. It's the only resource available there, and the only forest that I know of where you can't gather wood. It's a reasonable assumption, based on my logic, that the trees are made of chrome, but you might have a hard time convincing anyone else of that.

So would it then be safe to now form a general consensus that there are no clouds in Cantr?

it would be great to add another picture in cantr, one of the sky. You see the surrounding in the map, you see the terrain, and then you can also see the sky and the weather.

No need for picture.
Game generated messages would be nice.
You see the sun coming up from behind the horizon.
You see the sun reaching its peak of its daily course.
The air starts to glow red as the sun descents.
etc.
Must not be the boring same routine every day, some random change would be nice.

That would king of make it difficult for those playing in diff time zones from each other as Doug mentioned. There would be people always awake at night in Cantr...

A Cantr day of, let's say, 20 real life hours would resolve this problem. At least anybody would be treated equal this way.

I'd like to see something implemented just to avoid the awkward roleplay when characters see completely different things. It would probably increase roleplay of observing the sky if everyone were on the same page. I generally avoid any reference of weather, temperature, sunlight/moonlight simply because it can cause conflicts of 'opinion' within the game.
I'd think something like Pisc suggested would work. Though, maybe have 24 hr cycles of the sun and moon so that every other real life day was "day" or "night" in-game.

Didn't someone suggest a image of the sky, so that chars could see at stars? I think that would be an interesting thing, properly implemented. Rather useless though.

It would be interesting if it could be used for navigation.

I've seen stars, the moon and the sun all in one sky on more then one occasion, where I live.
I have also seen it rain on one side of the street and not the other.
This is VERY typical of Florida.
In my own house I've had my mother see only the sun while my sibling and I both saw the moon and only I saw the stars. Its a matter of eye light sensitivity. With me being colorblind, I'm more sensitive to bright lights... thus I can see the stars "more often".

I think Cantr always being light is an interesting feature, and I don't really see any need to make changes that would inconvenience anyone (or everyone) just to add in a night element for absolutely no practical reason.

So can we agree? Sun all day and no clouds...?

We, on the forums, could agree 100% but there are a LOT more who don't check the forum that wouldn't.
Not to mention that this section of the forum is mostly English speaking so you'd still get events that have been described anyway.

Does Cantr use the same "time" for all players? I mean, if one player sees Cantr time as "Day 2764 Time: 6:12:57 " then do all?
The reason I ask is that then the reasoning should be rather simple, modify the day/night cycles around that time frame. Sure, some will complain that it would mean that some would only see night, or some only day, but there places where things like that are reality...well not permanently so, but there are places where you get numerous days that pass with no sunlight...and so on.
I am just rambling, but I am sure you get what I am trying to say.
