Cantr Radio! (who's in?)

Postby XBL » Mon Mar 08, 2004 4:56 pm

Hello,

I already know a while about SHOUTcast (software to setup your own, free, internet radio station), but I never really set up a 'real' station, because I didn't know for what kind of public I should aim. And now... Now I just had a great idea: Cantr radio.

Updates on what's going on on the forums
    Problems with the server
    Other updates
Good music while you're playing cantr
    Loads of fun

Now there are 2 real problems...

1) the DJ's: You can easily be a DJ (or presenter, or whatever) using Winamp and the DSP plugin (for ppl who want to be a DJ: I can hand you a quick guide of setting up your own station. There's also info on shoutcast.com.
2) the server. You need enough bandwith... A minimum of 512kbits upload (not download) is something you really need, to get about a 10 listener max on a quality of 40kbits. Not much you see... so we must find _someone_ with enough bandwith to be kind for us ;).

But first I would like to know if there are people who are intrested :D.

Personally I don't like the radio.
I always hear it at work and it drives me crazy. But I think thats cauz they never broadcast some good music that I like... but to be honost I am more a visual kinda person... how bout a cantr movie? Or cantr news flash

But a cantr radio with cantr news sounds very good. You got me as a listener if you'd actually start it.

Oh, and if you need people to DJ, then I'll volunteer.

Oh, and are these webcast radio shows subject to the FCC rules?

FCC rules...? I know about copyright stuff etc, and you should actually license your songs. But those organisations who check it, don't check the 'small' stations, and especially when it's non-profit. I never heard ppl about being fined or something.

And I'll write you down, Captain *salutes* ;) 8).

Murder in Cantr City.
This morning 2 unknown characters have murdered "James Dean" in Cantr City. The reason for the assault is unknown. The assaulters robbed a wooden shield and a sabre from the victim, and left in direction of Alenz Hills. The police are after the attackers.

Bhak/Sring Sri - Dhung peace talks fail... Again.
The peace talks between Bhak-Sring Sri and Dhung have failed again. A Dhung representative claimed the Bhak were sabotaging the talks by constantly increasing their demands. Reprisal actions are claimed to be taken while we speak. The roadmap to peace has hereby officialy failed.

Boat stolen in Lanoi.
A boat has been stolen in Lanoi. The boat was unlocked and the owner had left to buy some iron for a lock. The description of the boat: type longboat, name "Spray". The thiefs description, a man in his 20's, nude, was last seen to be smiling. The guards were nowhere to be seen.

Lad at war again?
Rumours go that Lad is arming for a new war. The Alexandrian Empire, known for its expansionism but recently descended into turmoil has got their act together again and reorganised. This indicates that ....... is still alive and seeks revenge. Details are not known as all communication with our (Secret) journalist has been lost, proboably due to him not being alive anymore. Any information available has been provided by few travellers and asylum seekers who escaped Lad. Naaron government officials deny all accusations.

Steel in Kii Desert?
Rumours go that steel can be dug up in Kii desert. Although this has not been confirmed, many ppl from surrounding locations left for the desert. Characters who have been in Kii deny steel to be found, but this denial only made adventurers believe the story more firmly. The most recent rumour even claims "titanium" to be found there. Not much is know about this mysterious resource, but it's commonly believed to be a particular rare and preciousss metal.

The weather: mainly green, no rain as always, sunnish/cloudish, warmish coldish.

Federal Communications Commission. Probably doesn't have the power to regulate radio webcasts. It was just something that came to mind since they're taking Howard Stern off the air because he violated a few FCC rules.

The internet being a worldwide thing, and internet radio not being an actual radio transmission, I'm pretty sure the FCC can't do a thing about it. HA! Take that Feds!

Anyway, I'll be a DJ if one's needed--everyone always says I have a face for radio XD

Hunter, you're GREAT ^_^. Become a DJ :D :p.

Although it is not simular to most the music interest of 18 year olds.
Doesn't matter ;)... as long it's a bit in the interests of cantr players. And well, they're all a bit strange... so if you play something, there's always someone who will like it, lol ^_^.
