Knowing your skill ability question
Hey I have a character and I'm wondering if its mining skill improved. When I clicked my character description before, I was an efficient cooker, but on that list with all my skills , mining and farming were higher. Later, cooking moved up the list surpassing mining which was to be expected since my character is a cook and does nothing but cook. Now all of a sudden, mining has surpassed both farming and cooking, and I haven't mined once.
So my question is, does that skill list under character description rank in order your skills from best to worst? If so, how did my char increase in mining? Just a bug?
Appendix A:
Here's a little demonstration showing what I'm talking about of how the skill list change:
efficient Farming ---> efficient Farming -----> efficient Mining
efficient Mining ---> efficient Cooking -----> efficient Farming
efficient Cooking ---> efficient Mining ------> efficient Cooking

Mining
This skill affects (and is trained with) gathering of most metals and the crushing of them.

I think it does, yes. But the mining increase might've been from crushing hematite or something.

Wouldn't that make your characters strength + combat = their strength + combat + total amount of stuff on them?
Depending how much stuff they've on their person... your character might already be "much stronger".

One of my characters made an in-game study on it years back and the weight carried didn't seem to make much of a difference. If you think about it, a person weighs 60 kilos and if they're carrying 15 kilos, that's only a 25% increase. I think if you can drag someone 50%, that means you're about equal in terms of battle proficiency. If they're stronger than you but you can still drag the person 50%, it's likely that you're a better fighter than him. Woundedness and tiredness also affects it significantly.

Oh, I didn't know that combat skill played a role. I wasn't sure if the calculation Dudel said was the actual mechanics of the dragging or not.
So it is strength of character + combat skill like Dudel said?
I wonder why combat skill plays a role?
Anyways, that makes sense now. I think I'm a better fighter than the guy I was dragging. Thanks for the info.

Maybe I shouldn't post this and risk being labeled a "powergamer"
but.... As a newspawn you can drag yourself and look at your skills to check how well you fight without doing the lame "oops, I just punched myself" crap.
So, yeah... Dragging DOES use the fighting skill.
