Passing notes instead of whispering

Anyone else bene annoyed by this yet? Players know that they may possibly have a small chance of a sentence being overheard, so their characters pass notes instead...

Seen this a few times now, and it seems to verge on a CRB, or at the very least isn't really in the spirit of things. I've got a char in a very precarious situation where if a whisper gets overheard he could get himself dead, but he's not passing notes because I know that he might get overheard...

Just interested in opinions, thoughts :)

It's bound to happen. I trust the even greater pile of notes to be cleared up when chars die was considered when this change was decided upon.

Well at least people aren't having "note sex"... I hope not. :shock:

Anyway... that just makes people extra suspicious. Passing notes back and forth with no title. If I was a town leader or someone who cared about conspiracies I'd say something.... assuming I WAS the character, at least. :p

Characters should know. In my opinion the feature shouldn't be treated as something that *just* popped up, but has always been there. It's only normal that some sounds are louder than others and might be overheard.

It would make sense if characters didn't suspect they could be overheard until they do overhear something or if they hear someone else mentioning they heard something they shouldn't have. But it might be difficult to keep track of which ones of your characters are aware of the possibility.

Note passing is best done without raising suspicious if you say aloud something like "hey, would you take a look at this radio log/would you like a copy of my trade list?" etc. but also talking can draw too much attention to it. Generally if people write "tear up this note after reading", I'll be sure to store it anyway because if the note would end up in the wrong hands, that would mean my character died which probably means who ever they were trying to keep from overhearing guessed something was going on, while if not, it's good to keep logs of what was being "said" during the incident.

It would also make sense if character didn't suspect they can die until they see someone dieing or they hear someone else mentioning he saw somebody die.

Actually, I've seen characters like that. Generally my characters are rather surprised when they see a death for the first time and only turn indifferent about it when they've seen it happen several times. Oh and also it's dying and not dieing. It makes me flinch when people write dieing or useing or stuff like that.
