Pretty Awesome

I traveled 3 or more days to a quiet little village. Upon arrival I realized how hungry I had become and requested food after announcing who I was. A man there welcomed me, and told me there was no food available.
I turned to the laws, wanting to contribute to food gathering and saw that absolutely -0- activity was allowed, unless one was a citizen. . .(Men and their laws, wanting to control everything). So I immediately requested citizenship and waited in starvation for 3days with no reply.
I had noticed everyone in the village was sneezing, some violently. I tried to keep my distance as best as possible. Then without warning a young man dies right at my feet. I leaped back a little bit, but kept silent, not wanting to show my cowardice.
After the 3 grueling days I requested citizenship and food once more, with the stipulation that I didn't want to break a law in order to regain my health.
Day 4, no response, intense hunger pains kick in nearly doubling me over. I started to look over some maps and saw that traveling from this location would be suicidal without any food, especially in my current state.
Day 5, decision made. I try to kill an animal, but my weakened swing only scared it until it saw who attacked. Then the blasted beast pranced about mocking me. I took a second look and noticed potatoes on the grounds, LOTs of them! I don't know if it was an illusion, as I haven't been able to eat them, but none the less it was food.
Before I could do more, another citizen collapsed, dead. I then told all who were left that this town was a wretched place with incompetent laws that needed revision. I also apologized for the stolen food, and declared I was leaving.
Then the same man whom welcomed me agreed that the place was a death trap and made a hasty run down the road. Perhaps he had lost his sanity or found it.
Taking a different road I left the town that had 8 citizens when I arrived, and was down to two both barely clinging on for dear life just 5days later. I'm not sure where I'm going, but I had food, so I should be able to make it there.
Perhaps someday I'll return to the village turned ghost town, maybe even try to rebuild it as a goal, that is if no one hasn't already begun to do so. Even then, I'll pitch in and help out. The place was beautiful, and a wonder to behold. It is a shame to have watched it go down like this in my short visit. . .perhaps I'm cursed?
