Animals on Aki?

Is it just me, or has animals been reduced to normal levels on Aki Island? I'm not sure, but in my location it's almost at a normal level and not even a large variety like there used to be, so did we just hunt them out naturally or did something happen? Just want some verification. .-.

Oh no! Aki won't be the same without the hordes of animals... sure I did my bit to destroying quite a few, but still..
Anyway, this must relate to the animals not breeding thread that was on here a week or so ago.

There's definitely a lot less now, and they don't seem to attack as often either. I've got a lone, defenseless newspawn standing out in a forest somewhere and I've been hoping the hyenas would eat her, but at this point it looks like she'll actually starve first.
The last char I had there, even with a decent shield and a whole town hunting to keep the population in check you could fall asleep outside for a couple of days and wake up dead. Heading out on your own was suicide.

Agreed. I have an old-fashioned character who discourages newspawns from running off cause he hasn't been in the "wilds" for a while to see how things are. It made that island really unique with three main towns, some minor outposts, ruins (literally o.o, my character's seen towns destroyed from animal attacks), etc. .-. the roads being long made each town feel almost isolated when I had my first character there LOOOONG ago.
There used to be thuosands. but doug reduced them to a hundred or two hundred and made them stronger... but now there's only like, 30... .-. and only 4-5 different kinds. o.O Even when doug reduced them there were lik 8-11 different kinds of animals.

Well where I am there's seven differnt kinds of animals for a total pop of like 80+ (maybe 75 if you don't count the rabbits) and while it's not what it used to be it seems like it could be threatening enough, if they'd actually
attack.
I do like having all the different varieties of animals all over the world though, it's one of the neatest changes I saw when I came back after not playing a long time, I just wish they were still a threat in uncivilized places.
I'm guessing none of this will matter eventually though since apparently the whole animal/hunting systems in for a major overhaul soon.

There's another thread about the animal reproduction system being broken. In some places hunting has been banned due to their scarcity.
All part of the same situation.

I just added some pelicans back a few days ago, along with some other animals on other islands to try to compensate for the glitch.
