unless i am misunderstanding things PD is aparently having an issue with figuring out what to do about players who don't want to get sexually involved IG......why can't they just do what we do and take our petty issues and make a new forum topic
though this issue is far from petty.....maybe some none staff people can come up with ideas?
( couldn't find the proper place to put this sorry for making a new topic )
EDIT: i was mistaken about " PD's issue "......
all the same the topic appears to be going well

Um....what IS there to do with players who don't want to get involved sexually...? I mean, if they don't, then they won't. Seems like it works itself out to me.

Not sure how/why this is an issue. All it takes is an OOC message letting the other player know you don't want that level of involvement or detail.

Well, the question could also be posed as to what to do with those who want to read/write sexual activity in what is suppose to be a game.
Those who choose not to, have every right to do so, there is NOTHING that requires anyone to participate in chat room sex while playing a game.

it is not always that simple. not when you (A) don't know their age and (B) your character is the type of character who rapes other characters.
i think the issue is how do we keep under aged kids from coming in contact with such a scenario. and if the first answer is to ask in OOC if they are cool with it......well, that's not enough. what if a person doesn't even want to be asked? even if the answer is a deffinate no? not everyone is ok with such things.
a disclaimer maybe? but that has been suggested in another thread. such a thing would probably attract the wrong kind of people.
suggestions?

*after arriving, he sneakily walks up to the woman in her twenties on the potato harvester, roughly pushes her off and rapes her quickly*? Unless someone does something ridiculous like that, I don't see how a character is supposed to rape someone without the consent of the other player.

We should all be adult enough mentally to type this : ((OOC: Hello, this scenario is too explicit or sexual for my liking, please discontinue this scene or I suggest that we can assume it 'happened' and not roleplay the details. Thank you.))

The only time I've encountered behaviour similar to this is when someone was purposely trying to get their char killed and "rp'd" the most absurd/offensive things they could to incite others to attack them.
It could be a problem, in cases like that, where things were done out in the open and anyone in town could read it. I'd hope most of the sexual stuff happens in relative privacy, but should definitely have consent of all players involved.
One of my concerns is that even if I ask the other player if they are over 18, all I can do is take them at their word. I was told that PD will verify age, but again, you're going off the honesty of the person when they applied for the game.

This is the internet, you can't avoid finding out about it sooner or later, and there will always be people who are offended by one thing or the other. Unless there's going to be filters in the Cantr chat, and 24/7 active mods reading through the logs, deleting "innapropiate" content, this is not going to change.

If someone tried to rape one of mine.. mine would walk away and laugh at them and tell them they need to get a bigger weapon.. then ignore what ever else they said. When I signed up for cantr, I did not sign up for sex chat... I learned early what that kind of play can do, and refuse to participate if I don't so choose to.

what if they are locked up and the person RP's shoving them against a wall and starts raping them? then waits for a reaction assuming they will play along, and they don't want to.....

as Seko once said in another topic simply pretending it happened may also be too much, and although it seems simple to you it's not so simple for EVERYONE. especially someone who is, say, 12 or 13.
just because they SHOULD be doesn't really mean they ARE adult enough to handle the situation properly. some people might freak out and commit IC suicide.

Two characters don't need to have sexual relations to show how much they are in love with each other. I agree with Sunni, I didn't sign up to have sex chats here and there which is probably one of the main reasons why my characters never really loved anyone. I only have one that loves someone and I will tell everyone he and his wife do not have sex but they do love each other very much and can do other things other than that to show how much they care for one another.

Then that player is being just plain retarded and should be warned if not banned. >.>
