Joanna Newsom: '81
Patrick Wolf: The Shadow Sea and Eulogy
Rammstein: Wiener Blut
These are sort of "I am" (or "I was") songs.
Generally I'd also say Elder Scrolls songs.

The Rest Will Flow - Porcupine Tree I couldn't resist but copy the lyrics here. For a gorgeous woman in her thirties and a man in his fifties.
I was pretending to be floating strong
but I was sinking
in to still water
eyes closed
all of the rest will flow
then out of darkness I found I could still feel
something good
out of the woods
eyes closed
all of the rest will flow
one simple thing that I never could see
but now I know
all of the rest will flow
stay with me my angel I found you
now I don't feel low
all of the rest will floweyes closed
all of the rest will flow

Opeth: Death Whispered A Lullaby.
This song reminds me of all the sleepy villages throughout Cantr.

At the moment...
It's 4'33" by John Cage.
No 'notes'... but listening to the 'music' around where they could have been.
*sighs*

I had to look it up (recently bought 4 or 5 Opeth albums, and haven't really got to know them yet). I can understand how you made that connection.

^ That reminds me.... Stockholm by OSI. The connection is Mikael Åkerfeldt, of course, who sings it. "A dark girl wanders on. She bears a wound for you..."

Aaah... The coughing, gum chewing, candy unwrapping audience... Perfect background "music" for Cantr right now.
For me it used to be Monkey Island soundtrack.
But now I'll go with Messiaen. Quartet pour la fin du temps.

Banging my head (into the keyboard) to Pagan's Mind, while trying to fix Cantr code.
