I don't like how people get mad at certain groups just 'cause there character gets killed for mouthing off at somebody. Of course if you insult or break the laws you're gonna get killed. >.>

'cause most people are too lazy to roleplay with prisoners and stuff like that. :S

or maybe most prisoners would rather die than talk to you or follow simple instructions

Yeah, there are a lot like that. Sadly, when I end up as a prisoner, the one who imprisoned my char is like that, and when I end up imprisoning someone, the prisoner is like that.

It's a trust issue. If the prisoner is given no hope of release (or a life worth living in slavery - in rare cases that works), of course they're going to do all they can to give the capturer(s) a hard time. But a good player should attempt to communicate. I think people who stop replying are taking things personally and are mad at the player of the capturer rather than characters being mad at each other.

Oh and some characters might consider getting captured too much of a shame to be able to imagine living beyond it, as people would know the person failed to defend oneself and must have dropped stuff in order to survive. Imagine if it was a town leader with a lot of keys and giving up the keys might lead into people inside getting captured, or at least resources getting stolen. Good luck explaining that you did it for the good of the people.

I had a character captured by pirates and told she had no hope of release (had witnessed them take a town).

She gave 'em hell, eventually breaking up the pirate ship and taking off with one of them. Worked an absolute treat.. she's now free. Took less than two cantr years.

So there can be light at the end of the tunnel.. with a bit of effort put into RP. I did sink many hours into that char around the time.

I get mad at the player sometimes but only if they're idiots who don't use emotes or even capital letters, if they even talk at all. Then you might as well give up, and there are just SO MANY like this, I mean honestly why even play a game like Cantr if you have no interest in RPing whatsoever?

I imprisoned one with one of my more malicious characters to torture them, and the player verbally abused us personally (oocly) and all this other stuff... he even refused to RP with us and kept on godmoding us... He was damaged 90%, beaten senseless (or was supposed to be) and he RPed as if he was able to move at full speed, running and jumping away at us and coutnerring everything we did just to annoy us.

I did yes little child cause it would e the way you were torturing him that was twisted. You enjoy it to much. sociopath you are sure he deserved it i had a char already in town so he was useless.

And see a tortured person and tell me to play along with it.

Besides you anoy me always have always will ever since you took that town..ever stop to think why every one left who was there when you were first there.

It just takes some intelligence. Even when you rule with an iron fist there are chinks in the armor.

CantrFreak, I hope I'll never end up capturing a dick like that. Although I've already had plenty of prisoners who refuse to rp or put minimum effort into it to show they really aren't interested. If someone can't handle it then they can say OOC that they don't want to hear the details but they can't deny their character's vulnerability. If the game system says that someone can cause you damage and you don't have healing food to fix it then they also have the power to torture. If the system didn't allow instant healing then maybe people would be more ready to acknowledge the fact that when your character is wounded then they are really hurt.

Capital letters, spelling and stuff don't really matter. I know two very well roleplayed characters who didn't use capital letters on the start of a sentence all the time, or capitalized "I". They both developped their own personalities over time, and were very easy and fun to roleplay with. They both did use emotes though.

Oh and CantrFreak, I got one locked up once, roleplayed every single hit I gave him, and gave him plenty of chances to just give up and live (as a slave, sure, but better than nothing, right? He knew it was someone who would go through the trouble to RP it ;P). But all he did was making fun of my character (when he should've been cringing of all the pain, for example), pointing a lot, and refusing to roleplay with me. So in the end I just killed him wtihout any RP as I noticed it wasn't really worth it anyway.
