I'm an old man, but not in the sense of grey hair.... I have played the game for many years and killed off a few of my own players after they reached over 100 years old. I stopped playing because I found myself not being proactive in RP but only being reactive. I had large gaps of silence or sleepiness which annoyed my mates and townspeople.... especially because I had lots of keys.
I wouldn't say a word for days on end but if a newspawn stole a bone knife off the ground, I'd bolt up and kill him before he knew what Cantr was about. I'd check Cantr twice a day but would never post a word... I always watched to see what happend and responded only when needed.
I had many great characters but only because the people around me made me react and I did so.
My greatest downfall in Cantr for any of my characters is when they fell in love with a woman. This is by no means an insult to anyone that was a love interest of mine... just an explaination of MY short comings. As a relationship grew with another character I felt a "need" to respond or attend to them... I found myself avoiding logging on.... the more I avoided logging on, the worse things got and the more I avoided logging on.
I loved my characters.... I loved my partners, I loved the stories... I just started to feel that it was more of a chore than a game. Forgive the rant. I'm just drunk on a Friday night at 1:00 am.
I'm thinking of starting a new charatcer.

Most of what you said I can totally relate to, specially about bolting up to chase a newspawn, my favorite pastime and a few months ago the avoiding logging in...but now it once again is fun for me and no longer a chore, too damn addicting.

Bowser, I completely sympathise. In fact, that entire post could have been written by me and still been 100% true.
Except I'm not starting any more characters. And I'm not drunk (yet).
