The new iron and steel

Postby Alcatraz » Fri Feb 20, 2004 9:18 am

I calculated the daily values, but I'll leave them out for the moment. I was wondering what people thought of the new process needed to get iron. Also curious how many people have it and the new steel process going.

I've got one process going in a place, and have just posted my new rates. Quite a dissapointment for many people.

My char who would decide such things as rates and what-not hasn't been at that char's hometown for a while, so I haven't seen the IC effects yet.

my char's who know of the change have figured out or been told IC how to process it the other ones have no idea iron is even missing as a resource yet so don't care and won't trade anything higher then they would of before it. no matter what some upstart traveller tries to tell em it's worth now hehe

My characters organization know show to make iron and steel and has the machines and resources to do so... I don't believe the first batch of new iron has been completed yet, but we still have our surplus of old iron.

1 character is going nuts trying to figure out what to do. They have a chunk of iron but no iron nearby and a smelter and noticed the changes and are working on what that means.

2 characters dug iron once upon a time and have heard that things have changed somehow

5 characters who have never done iron work have heard that iron harder to get

2 characters have done iron work and not heard any of this yet

2 characters have never done iron work and have not heard of this

3 characters are in iron areas and heard that prices will be changing or have just changed or the problem is still being worked on

One character is grinning because he got over 2 kilos of iron before the change and now the price of iron has gone up by a factor of 10.
One character is sitting in the Lad workshop with 5 stone tables and lots of sledgehammers but no hematite.
One character doesn't care because Seatown Forest doesn't let him get either iron or hematite.
One character is an Imperial Guardsman and was poking the funny black rocks with his war bow.

1 is happy cause he'll still be at the forefront of iron and steel production.
1 is happy because she got about 500g of iron cheap before the change.
4 don't care.
1 was furious because she couldn't get any iron for a reasonable price after spending about a year traveling and gathering and a year in prison getting coal and limestone to trade.
DOOM!

2 have too much on their minds right now to worry about iron, though it might be a problem in the future.
1 it doesn't really affect because he's a Ranger and already has all the iron-related implements he needs
2 know, but already have all the iron they'll need for a long time
4 don't know and it doesn't affect much anyway, for various other reasons.
2 don't know, but it would inconvenience them greatly.
3 know, and it inconveniences them, but haven't made much progress in researching it

I had one character just luck out and do some work for about twice what the current rate is for Iron and managed to get enough for some tools he needed.

1 doesn't know yet, but is still freaking out about the lack of salt...oh boy, watch her freak when she does find out!
3 don't know, and it will cause them much grief as well
1 doesn't know, but will be very upset if a deal falls through that she's already paid for
3 do know, but don't care
3 don't know, but won't care
1 sort of knows, and will be inconvenienced
3 don't know, but will care in the future
