Just noticed a 'pollution' process after which I couldn't connect to the server for a few seconds. Is this something I haven't noticed before, something new, or a euphemism for down time?

I think it just runs in case there were things that caused pollution, but I doubt that anything actually has a pollution value. It's supposed to give +1% damage to each person in the polluted location when it hits.

... Lag?

Really, doesn't it makes it worse?
