Killing of Elder Cantrians

When you kill an older Cantrians, does anyone else here sort of get a chuckle out of it? I mean if you kill someone 40 years old, that means a person has put 400 days into their character and all that time has been eliminated in an instant.

On the flip side of things, when someone loses a older character due to murder, how do you feel when you wake up, go to check out your character and soon discover your character died. Doesn't it suck? What goes through ones head when this occurs? One time for me, one of my characters was sneak attacked and I was pissed when I woke up and saw my guy dead. I was like how! Why!

Oh cruel world....

If you look at it in terms of putting days of work into the story of the world, instead of just into a character, you'll find it much easier to cope with death.

So long as both sides contribute to an RP experience, I'll be happy with any of my characters being killed.

It's actually amusing to see how the world stands or strays without your character. Suddenly that town that you watched every day falls into an information black-out and you only hear the whispers that reach other characters.

It would indeed suck ass to have an older character die unexpectedly overnight. It has only happened to me once and that was a guy who had been hitting innocent people so he had it coming. I just didn't think that they could get through the lock that fast. I didn't take into account that they could have several crowbars.

My first character to die was rather young, but I still felt like it was very unfair because she refused to fight and was still slaughtered without being given a chance to explain herself.

I certainly wouldn't "get a chuckle" out of killing someone over 30, more like I'd be sad that they can't contribute to the game anymore. In fact I don't remember directly killing anyone above the age of 30. I've taken part in hitting such people but haven't dealt the killing blow. I've also organised to drag such a person into a locked room and left him there to starve. He killed himself once he realized there was no hope. I may be forgetting something.

I once had a character of 80+ age killed. It was pretty tough although she had had that coming on several occassions in her life. She was hot tempered and had an attitude that finally got her killed. She even managed to slap Nick MacGregor once and got away with it, how about that?

I missed her quite a lot for a while, but..I'm pleased that I managed to play her consistently which then led to her death.

Hopefully she's cooled down now, RIP.

Something

I hate when people try talking their way out of a situation, especially after I brutally beat them. Innocent or not I don't like having new potential enemies walking around. What goes around, comes around in the world of cantr if you let people who hate you live. Yeah the Cantr world may lose out on an awesome character, but that player can always RP a new person.

Sounds like you expect the worse from people, Idriveayugo. So if you suspected someone of a crime and hit them, then the person claimed that there's been a mistake, you'd still kill the before they have a chance to prove their innocence just because if you had to let them go, they'd come back to kill you? Seriously, mistakes happen. If my character was accused of a crime she didn't commit, I'd be just happy if she avoided getting killed. Even if she was hit or taken to jail, I wouldn't bear grudge against the people arresting her because they were just acting based on the evidence they had in that point. If you need to kill people in order to cover up for your own errors... that's just bad. Sure there are some people who take revenge after being offered mercy but that just makes them look bad.

Once one of my characters saw a man get beaten to death in his sleep just because he was on someone else's ship. This man didn't have big weapons or anything, as far as I can remember. He looked like a newspawn. People were convinced that he must be a boat thief since they remembered the boat belonged to someone else. But the owner was there, just in a cabin or something. The newspawn got murdered just because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, the ship's owner lost a friend and no condolences could bring the man back to life. The town had their own vehicles, they could've easily given chase, I think they had crowbars and should've been able to dock to the boat if it undocked. The man didn't look like a threat. It was just overreacting because people drew the wrong consequences.

Seko, what you are arguing is people should not be executed if a mistake has been made. This does not apply to me however, as I do not make mistakes. I jail/torture/kill people with one of my chars because my char is a bloody tyrant.

As for revenge making a person look bad, perhaps some one acts on revenge due to a mistake, but what about if a person was not jailed due to a mistake, but rather because the town is crazy. Does a person look bad by then trying to build a counter-resistance to the evil town?

Seems to me like we both have justifications for the principles we have, but we have two different mindsets.

umm, one my char just recently killed one "man in his forties", was he yours? my char felt a bit sad about that, i can say, but thinks, it's less fair to kill young people without any weapons than those who are experienced and have good protections and swords (and good loot, too).

i understand that it isn't pleasant, but it's just a game and to keep it interesting, need to have some conflict.

I'll admit that one of my characters took advantage of an elderly person while they were sleeping. The character seemed to have a history of sleeping, but they were hoarding a massive stock of resources in this empty town they seemed to govern. The opportunity was just so good, that it would have been a CRB for my character to ignore it because of OOC considerations.

If someone sleeps then they deserve to die, at least in some of my characters' opinion. If you're not playing to the fullest then you might as well step down and give other people a chance to be wealthy and successful. Not like the old people built all of their possessions themselves, let's face it, pretty much every old character has benefited from characters who either died in their location and they picked up all their stuff, or from workers who died so that you never had to pay them.

In the end everyone will die,do something about someone will write or write something what someone will read, this way you will become immortal (probably).

When my chars attack people older than them, I hope they have interesting notes. I don't really care about the fact they're older. Just about their notes. :)
