So far the funniest one I saw was one that said dying outside would be punished.

Some people have no measure with fireworks. Either that or they are worried about Mythbusters running out of ideas to test.
In my region at Spain high school students have to study a 'citizenship' course about ethics, human rights and so on. The church and the right wing nuts oppose it, so they introduced a law to force teachers to teach it in English, even though both students and teachers don't have enough level to do that.
Usually there's the regular teacher talking in Spanish, and an English teacher translating everything. But, if students want to study in our regional language, which they have the right to, and the English teacher doesn't know it, you need three teachers translating from Catalonian to Spanish, and from Spanish to English, in order to comply with the law.
I don't know any fun laws in-game, besides the ban on hunting holy rabbits. Reality is crazier than fiction.

Yes everyone, please keep this limited to in-game laws.
One of the most annoying laws I've seen is those that ask 10% of a project as tax. >.> They're just lazy. If it would be something like "Give all the meat you get from hunting to us." in some place without food you can gather, then I wouldn't complain. I'll probably have such a law in the town one of my characters will soon start running >:)

I actually think that makes a lot of sense. Usually it only applied to non-citizens, so instead of just allowing anyone to come in and use up gathering slots, it makes sure that the town still benifits from people gathering (whereas the alernative is trade). If people were just allowed to come and gather whatever they wanted without any price, the town would lose out.

Yeah, it's damn annoying how everyone just walks in and harvests their own resources because they couldn't be arsed to bring in anything to trade. Then again, they might not know what's needed in your town and carrying tradeswares without knowing who's going to need them slows you down and takes space away from food and other essential things, especially if you're traveling on foot.

Right, which is I think one of the reasons large-scale trading doesn't take off; no one knows what anywhere else wants.

Most villages that are in need of resources probably can't make radios to spread the word. Furthermore, getting what you need yourself still is easier (and faster) than trying to get resources by trading them.
The real life solution to this problem is the 'market day'. People from all over the county gather to sell goods they produce and buy whatever they need at a place and time known to all.
But maybe travel is too slow to make this a viable option in Cantr.
Has anyone ever encountered a regular market in Cantr?

Treefeather 2010 edition. That's a huge help over on Treefeather island. One of my characters uses it for everything since he does a lot of traveling.

Exactly, and Treefeather has complete radio coverage as well. Even the poorest towns have one (I think there is/was an ongoing effort to achieve this).
I've noticed that someone's (finally) come up with a complete map for Cantr island also.
