Top 10 things that annoy you about Cantr II
Top 10 things that annoy you about Cantr, in order (if you can) from most annoying (1) to least annoying (10). If you can't think of 10 things, that's fine too. I'll be compiling the results for a future issue of the webzine. Feel free to edit and change your answers as you read others replies!
I did 10 for this poll, because I'm assuming that the majority of the replies will involve things that are not directly related to game mechanics, and I wanted to give enough room to get into those issues as well (plus, people dwell on the negative, so it should be much easier to get 10 negatives than 5 positives).
1. LAG.
2. When there is nothing, absolutely nothing going on in-game, and all I want to do is play.
3. Cantr not having a creator/programmer who is as into the game as I am.
4. Accidentally leaving your vehicle at a location, and not realizing you're not riding it until many days later.
5. Newspawn thieves.
6. Spawning your new charrie in just about the opposite place you had wanted to.
7. Sickness - mechanistic and sleeping
8. Narrow weapon tech tree (bone - wood - steel)/little weapon use diversity (skill weighting simply splits the weapon pool in half - not nearly enough).
9. Lack of a way to "control" a character other than locking them up or killing them.
10. Messed up animal system

haha well usually I'm positive so let's see if I can even come up with 10.
1. Lag.
2. People who cannot spell and do not bother to include any single punctuation to indicate an end to sentences.
3. Frequent missing of people during attacks that count and then waiting another full day to try again.
4. 100% project completion, but still working on it to finish in the next turn.
5. Not being able to pass things from one person to another while walking on the road.
6. OOC influences on characters in the game.
7. Not being able to have "human" bodyguards to deflect attacks on a specific person for defense.

1. Lag (well duh)
2. Having the hability to find 70% of the psicopat lithuans charries and like only 30% of the normal charries.
3. I almost always end up on the Lithuan island when I spwan a Portuguese charrie.
4. The Psichyc Characters
5. Having you most favorite charrie killed and never knowing exactly why...
6. Selfish players who never care to try and start RPing, they always wait for you to do the work... If you don't, then they travell or just sleep and sleep forever.
7. Well played characters and town leaders take so much time and give you a lot of frustation because people never cooperate, which is somewhat the purpose of the game.
8. The time you take to travell and many things in general that are in the travelling system. Like not being able to give things to people.
9. Stupid annoying players who make newspwans that have a fixed personality and know everything and act like they've been through a lot and make your true character who actually has been through a lot, look like a stupid charrie and all...
10. When you have a very respected character and then you sleep for a week or more and when you wake up you take so much time trying to "get in" the town again and just can't. All you see is newspwans who don't respect you and care not.
11. Having many more things to post here but can't because there's a limit of 10...

1. I think everyone will state LAG!!
2. Nothing going on in game when I am able to get on line
3. Newspawn's that think they know everything.

5. heart attacks and starvation
6. OOC talk in game about how you rp your char
7. Not being able to hand things over to someone on the road while travelling, like needed food..
8. I have to agree with Tang with attacking someone just to miss
9. Pirates.. which also make the game interesting but also annoying
10. when your charrie is left in charge while the 'leader' leaves, but you have no idea what to do..

The ex PD in me is coming out - I believe that is not keeping your characters completely independent.
Let's see
1. LAG
2. Seeing all the empty buildings in a town that now has just a few characters and those players not throwing a house at someone to keep them there in style - but instead making them a slave for food and other bare necessities.
3. The animals - had one new spawn die already from the violent thngs
4. Not engaging new spawns in conversation

1. Universal religious skepticism. Ironic considering my stance IRL, but it's nigh impossible to get a large following of even laymen.
2. OOC character names. It's impossible for me to take a char named Britney Spears seriously.
3. Active characters suddenly "get sick" and die.
4. Combat system.
5. Currency system (or lack thereof) - although, I suppose this is somewhat of a reflection on RL currency.
6. The use of *blinks* as an emote.
7. Every town feels the same. Everyone's so nice.
8. No character description. Technically you could use emotes, but in a busy town you have to describe yourself every time someone new shows up.
Most of these aren't even programming issues.

1. Drama on the forums.
2. Players who can't accept anything bad happening to their characters (including being spawned with bad skills or spawning in an undesired location), which then leads into suicidal behaviour or sleeping into death.
3. Dysfunctional staff.
4. Lag.
5. Combat system. One hit a day, no defense, no automatic retaliation or planned attacks, no truly ranged weapons, no knock-outs, restraining or permanent injury.
6. Characters are physically identical (not counting gender, clothing and rp'ed features). No races, hair, eye and skin color, hairstyles, body types, height, weight differences, scars, tattoos and so forth.
7. Poorly designed manufacturing system. Due to an elementary database design flaw it's impossible to produce one item in several ways without making all methods result in a separate (but virtually identical) item. Also machinery cannot produce items and a project cannot produce more than one resource.
8. No hard coded means of making art. Statues, paintings, figurines, frescoes... They could have a free form written description or the ability to attach a picture like in notes.
9. Players who can't (or won't bother to) spell or use punctuation.
I think I had a point 10 but I can't remember what it was.

1. Attacking someone and missing.
2. OOC influences.
3. Omeo island
4. Awkward skill forcing a project to take 3 times longer than it's supposed to.
5. Broken spawn randomiser.
6. Laws being pretty much identical in every town.
7. Radio's.
And that's all i can think of.

I spawned somewhere recently that had a law against handling certain resources without a permit, which, y'know, my char hated, but I thought it was pretty cool.

1. The size of the game world vs. the size of the player base (too spread out)
2. Different language groups within the same realm (not even close to fun after the first interaction. Unfair & unavoidable advantage to RL linguists.)
3. The fact that many players do not realize the most important implementations to cantr do not come from programmers, but from the characters within the game.
4. The failure of we players to create significantly different culture groups within the same language zone.
5. The apparently extremely high levels of cholesterol within Cantrian potatoes, because too many people fall to heart attacks, leading to a very strong lack of confidence in the dependability of characters.
6. The fact that random and entertaining chatter happens more on the forums and in the chat channel than within the game itself. AKA gray character page.
7. War tactics based on attrition, because surrendering is very rare.

1. Narcissists, in-game or at the forums.
2. The fact that Cantr II demands the time and dedication that I simply don't have.
3. Names that make any reference to anything out-of-game.
4. Names that are downright ridiculous.
5. The general ignorance and indifference that may be discouraging potential players.
6. Lack of groups or associations striving for knowledge (and when I say knowledge, I don't mean anything that's already included in the Cantr Wiki).
7. Lack of enough people to create diverse societies.
8. The need for a better interface.
9. Knowing that the characters might eventually experience an apocalypse, and that they'll never see it coming.
10. My long, gray list of dead characters.

Let's see if I can think up 10 things:
1. Lag (duuuh)
2. Animals (on a killing spree)
3. Fainting Sickness when food is scarce.
4. People who don't make an effort to spell or punctuate correctly.
5. Constant whispering.
6. Newspawns who don't talk and then die.
7. Every character is 'good'
8. Me not able to get on chat because the server banned me. >.>

^You lack imagination, there are several ways of making your enemy surrender and also, it does not necessarily need to be a war of attrition, you just need to plan ahead.
You misunderstand me... I don't like how popular the tactic is. Take no prisoners: Everyone dies. Then again, I guess it's because everyone tends to never concede.
Either way... Carry on with the lists.
