Blind readers?

I have a friend who is blind, who uses IE and JAWS as a screen reader. For some reason it breaks up on the Cantr pages, which wouldn't be a problem reading down, he'd just go to the next section and ignore the pause.

Trying to read events up, however, is going to prove difficult because it might start in the middle of a statement or action as he moves up the screen.

Anybody know any blind players, and how they deal with this or what reader they use? Thanks!

I believe tiddy ogg is blind.

No doubt he/she (I don't know which) will add any comment he/she may have when they hear this thread.

Hi. Yes, I use Jaws and get on pretty well. I've been playing for over three years so have got used to all the quirks caused by different programmers over the years doing things differently, , so I may have forgotten things I now do automatically.
Different Jaws versions act differently too, so that might influence my reply. Some of the earlier ones worked better, but I'm now using Jaws ver 9.

How familiar are you/he with the Jaws short cut keys for navigation? They can be a help.
But reading events... which was your first question.

My technique is to go to the bottom of the page, ((ctrl-page down) then up arrow through the "tasks" menuuntil I get to the last message. (Could do shift-B twice to jump to the Hide button, I guess.)
To read the events, ctrl-up arrow will normally do it, the only exception being when my own char is speaking privately to another, but this isn't much of a problem.

This combination, ctrl+arrow works on the buildings and objects menus too, but on the People list it doesn't and you'll just have to use the arrow keys on their own.

Hope this is some sort of starting help, feel free to ask further.

Thanks! I'm sure we'll have questions as they arise, but for now I think that's good. And he said to let you know he really appreciates it. (He wanted me to check things out before he got rolling...)

tiddy I'm getting your messages but can't get a reply out - his only problem now is registration here - there's a post in support...

Thanks!
