Comparing IG to RL

Well, I wanted to know what some people thought about how cantr relates to the real world. For example, do you think any cantr towns could be compared to real life cities or towns? Or any organizations like those in real life? What do all you think?
I personally think that Doryiskom reminds me sort of like New York City perhaps, and TnT reminds me of Ford, GM, Honda and other car companies.

Probably because TnT is.... Well.... A car company. :p
Karnon reminds me of a black and white version of the Republic of Rome. It's black and white, because it's ten times more boring

I really have to make a stretch to be able to relate real cities with locations in the game. Companies are easier, but in what towns does everyone know everyone's name? And you're considered fiendish if you fail to introduce yourself publicly within a day of your arrival?
Any place like that would be far too cooperative for most of the things that happen in cantr, ideal as it is, the world would be dull if we all just got along.

Klojt is like Tokyo cause they seem to have a good population and the newest technology.

Well, I remember a few years back while watching the news they were talking about a small town that never had the doors locked, didn't have a police force, didn't have cashiers, just a bucket for money. It was very trusting, so maybe a town like that would be something almost like cantr.

Cantr doesnt really make me think of RL. It makes me think of societies in a (not too well written) fantasy-book: the author tried to make it resemble RL, introduced most of the key elements, but somehow failed to convince.
Maybe this is because my character hasn't experienced any good in-game RP yet.

They're hard to compare do to things such as time, the terrible awake/asleep factor, crime/corruption being so easy to achieve, newspawns and bad/poor/unimaginative planning/rping/ideas (sorry for overuse of slashes).
For instance, any powerful Cantr town I can think of could be fairly easily destroyed or taken over by a full pirate ship or two. Thieves don't have a hard time unless they rob awake and armed areas. Again, char activeness is key to a realistic and working community, ie the government and guards must be active, work forces should stay relatively awake, etc.
The building names are another thing that can become annoying. Sure, you can fix them, but some communities just let poorly named or useless buildings stand.
And the law systems are often improperly or simply not enforced. Instead of following the laws and consequences completely, a guard may only inflict half of the punishment, or the criminal will talk his/her way out of it. That's an issue; it is very easy to lie unless one RP's visible guilt in emotes (which I think is a great idea!). For instance, one of my chars is in a bustling town, and the hard-working trusted leader suddenly went bad and stole everything and sailed away. This is pretty sad RP in my opinion, there were no signs, no strange personality, his plans just completely switched around.
EDIT: I am sorry, I was informed that there had been (quite a few) reasons that leader had a change in heart, and it had indeed been planned. Terribly sorry, it just seemed that way from my characters point of view.
Sorry for rambling.

There's a lot of behind the scenes things that go on in Cantr, and people are allowed to change their personality. Bailey in Sjoftich Hills North is a good example of someone who went through some changes.

That's more of an excuse for bad rp than a real reason. Overall there's a lack of good rp and also a lack of goop strategic playing throughout cantr. It kinda sucks.

And also lots of topic hijacking.

There actually were valid reasons, and I have edited my post. The problem with this is that everyone has a different idea on the matter from what their chars have seen, and wrong conclusions are easy to come to.

I agree about the Rome part. Mostly because many of the buildings were built from stone.
I dont know how it is now, but when I first started playing I loved that town. There was some cool stuff going on there, and I loved playing during the war with TBR. I had two characters in the area.
On a side note, I always felt like DHN, DHS, Krif, and the surrounding areas were a little like Ireland. Just in my imagination though. Could have been because of the MacGregors being so nearby and all the hills.

I think that is because in mind the player of Greggor Macgregor, the second, founder of the Macgregors, was trying to play him slightly scottish. I can see where you are getting that, but I don't think Irish people kill innocents.

Hardly innocent.
And HoH I have to agree with you on the MacGregor area.

Well, when you get names like MacGregor and then the Highlands and all that, it's obviously Scottish. xD
But MacGregors don't kill innocents, they just don't take anything from anybody. Just like the Scots, at least, I think... :/
