Jailbreaks!

Ok, I know this should be in the suggestions section, but i thought i'd get some feedback from some players first. I've had this idea for a while now, but I've oly made a forum acount today.

Anyway, my idea involves escaping prisons, because we all have, or have had characters wrongfully accused and thrown in, or in some cases rightfully accused and just want to get out and wreak some havok. If I am not mistaken, I've seen a rat or two in the animals section inside some buildings. What if there was a tool you could make from rat bones specifically that could pick a lock? It would have to use a lot of rat bones, as to not make it too easy to escape.

This is just an idea I've been incubating for a while, and I'd like to hear what some of you think.

Interesting.

I've never seen rats in any building, though.

But I've never really looked, either.

but we did have a discussion about jailbreaks earlier.

See if you can find it.

Hey come on, i posted this for a reason. I wan't to hear what you guys think. Just because I've only posted two entries on the forum so far doesn't mean they aren't important. :(

troll around and see if you can find our previous thread on the topic--it might be under 'suggestions'.

Lots of times people don't feel like saying things twice.

That doesn't apply to Meh or RKLenseth, of course. You'll soon get used to Richard's Incredible Multitopic Posts.

but yeah: see if some of your questions are answered there.

Suggestion on the topic is to put in suggestions board, hehe.

But really, I don't like the idea of common theives escaping just be using dead rats, but, rather would be much more interesting for people to possibly bribe a guard or two, *notes Karnon releasal of VIPs to K.F. for very random reasons.* Its no fun watching a person who 2 days earlier is begging me to OOC: I don't want this char anymore so please kill me, get away by using a bunch of bones.

Let it be noted I never touched the real locksmashing divice.

What about abandoned prisons? Isn't it a little rediculous that someone locked away and forgotten about for sevral years can't find someway to escape, when completely unsupervised? I've been to many abandoned or desolate areas where there is some lone person or group of people banging on a door to be let out, left there for years by someone long since dead or gone... There was a whole topic about jailbreaks and another system for it on the suggestions board. Or innattentive guards that never check on their prisoners.

I believe that case be true in Miron Hills East, with the Building, a Lad Citizen made NOTE CONTACT with the criminal, so thats one way to handle it. But my char decided against intruding into non Lad territories....

So they can bang and pass notes, from there get help....

Maybe they're should be different level of locks, so in less developed places, with less developed locks (bone locks?), they're may come the use of a screwdriver to unlock it.

If the lock is iron then a steel needle should do the job. Pick it without breaking it or causing an annocument of lock breaking.

It doesn't work this way but it would make sense.

If we had wooden locks then an iron screwdriver should do.

Steel locks if they existed require special instrumentation.

Actually to pick a lock, usually the thing has to have a bend in it and it works best with two or more of such objects. So you'd do best with a set of precision lockpicks. :)

What he said. To pick a lock, you need at least two tools at the same time. A tension wrench and the actual pick. If you have enough time, you should be fine with only one kind of pick for a large amount of different locks.
In the movies, secret agents put only one tool in a lock, fiddle with it, turn it around, and open the lock. That's called a key.

P.S.: There are of course locks where you need some more sophisticated tools. Magnetic locks, for example are challenging. Combination locks need a whole different tool, if you want to pick them. But some of them you can even pick without any tool. But for most 'standard' locks (the standards in Europe and in the US differ, but you can use the same pick on them) that one kind of pick and a tension wrench will suffice.

You either pasted some info from a yahoo search or you've done this before, Thomas.

Read the MIT guide. I haven't actually managed to pick a lock (due to my horrible hand made tools and insufficient practice), but I hear it's the best guide to lockpicking out there.
