...um my Uncle is a Schzophrenic, and I was "supposedly" diagnosed with childhood ADHD... only was on meds for 1 week though, glad of it to, some people on reddlyn for a while look like they came out of a concentration camp... does something to the bone density (again, glad it didn't do anything to me), I don't care if the researchers say it doesn't I know it does... several members of my family were diagnosed with varying degrees of depression, and my brother is bi-polar.
several alchies in the fam too. Not to mention distant cousins that comitted suicide... um... it also somehow seems to be linked to intelligence as well, because most in my family tend to excell in intellectual and artistic activities, even the uneducated ones...
So, yes, I have maybe a tiny bit of experience with it...
Laughter is the best medicine, and being up tight about it only makes it worse, not better. The sooner one realizes that, the better.
On the electro shock topic... researchers have developed signifigantly more benign forms of it that do not turn a person into a vegtable.

um.... and that had nothing to do with Cantr at all... so back to the topic, Cantr Sanatoriums.

Who needs elaborate and intricate medicines and machines for treating the mentally ill? Just take em in a back room, and have someone beat them with a billy club until they regain their sanity, or die, either of which is acceptable to me.

hey to advanced? we have cars that are inviormentaly good! they run without gas! and i wouldnt think electricity would be to advanced. and the electro thing was a big part of many mental hospitals a few years back. hmmmm....maybe use cotton and cotton cloth to make a padded room.... hmmm and i have to agree with festo, lol i like the way he thinks. beat em till they're sane. aaaah yes...i love it when its kept simple.

*to the people talking about beating insane people, note that I have the power to "remove" players*
Not that I would...
*cough* ahem...
And there is no benign form of ECT, it only works one way- destroying the electrical connections in the brain. I've studied this. Extensively.
So stick to Cantr topics, k people?

I'll go right back to Cantr.. but I have to say that what we studied in Psyche class was low-current treatments for very short periods over several treatments... The subjects had minor memory loss, but nothing like vegtables. The thing was, in one case, it didn't seem to zap the woman out of depression. (they only tried ECT after all other methods were exhausted)

Is it just me, or was the admin's threat a bit prejudiced? I mean, it's like banning people from public places because of their race or religion. Beating the sanity back into the insane in RL is completely unrelated to Cantr, and as such, you can not ban a player just because they like to do it.
But in all seriousness...

A sanitarium is a grand idea and I have some other ideas to expand upon it:
1. Leather straps that can be attatched to a table in the "Build Furniture" form
2. Straight jackets in the "Manufacture Clothing" form
3. Syringes and sedatives, and antidepressants and...
Well, I think I'm getting ahead of myself... Maybe it is for the better that Cantr has no sedatives and syringes... although, a Cantr junkie would be an interesting character to play.

Interesting ideas, I have suggested some of those in the past on the suggestion forum. With respect to your first comment: the fact that many aspects of this thread are non-cantr related is grounds for post deletion.

Your right. She would not do this. She already said she wouldn't.
An outside of that. It is not allowed.

Oh the wonderful torture I could unleash...
*ahem*
It is not allowed.

Very few players have managed to get banned from Cantr at all. You have to be very stupid and very immature to achieve that goal.
Some players have managed to get themselves on a list of problematic players. One way to achieve that is to display one's own stupidity and immaturity in a post about beating up (or even killing) people.
And yes, Meh has some interesting ideas up his sleeve. He might refrain from actually applying them, but he might know someone who doesn't.

You'll be happy to hear that you still got time left to find out.
