I have a question... whats better a Targe or an Iron Shield?

When in doubt, check the wiki. The iron shield's defense is slightly better.

It's also 2/3 the weight. That's why several of my characters prefer the tortoiseshell shield to the iron one.

not that ive ever actually seen a scarab, or chittin shield for that matter.

Really?! Chitin Shields are quite common for some of my characters. At least since scarabs became much easier to kill some time ago. Wooden shields though are still wonderous items for them.

Yup. I've got a character in a warrior town where almost everybody uses chitin shields.

*grumbles about scarabs and how they should have kept their ungodly armor*

The charries in the chinese zone use chitin shields.

Now that I've checked wiki... the iron shield doesn't really seem to be worth making compared to the chitin shield. For the amount of work to make iron and then the 4 days to make a shield... doesn't the iron shield seem a bit skimpy compared tot he chitin?

Um, 3 points more blocking? After the shield has been finished, production time stops mattering.

Yep, iron shields are really good but chitin shields rule too, we use it alot in a Portuguese island... Makes me think, how about a steel shield?

I know, it would be ridicolous... Even with a crossbow you'd only hurt about 15% or something...

edit: and maybe it could have a weakness, like.... it couldn't block boomerang attacks
