about the time limit

ok, so i'm new, and i already read why we have the time limit, but seeing as it's not a problem anymore, why do we still have it? Also, what happens after the time limit runs out?

What happens when the time limit runs out: You can't play your characters anymore until the time limit resets.

Why there is a time limit anyway now: Not sure.
