Non-English groups

Postby Jos Elkink » Tue Feb 03, 2004 12:06 pm

The Dutch, German, and Swedish groups are playing quite actively and going quite well - for as far as I can see.

The French and Spanish contain very few players, but they keep playing somehow.

The Russians have new players quite often, but they never stay around longer than a day or so.

Does anyone have an idea why some language groups cannot get off the ground? Are there any suggestions on how to solve this? Is there any player who speaks French, Spanish, or Russian, and knows a website or forum or so where (s)he could post some positive talk about Cantr? The post on the Swedish forums by Pirog were very successful :) ...

If you introduced an Italian language I could help you out, pluss I would join since my Italian needs a bit of revising, havent had to use it for a while.

+ I can also speak spanish but never bother with any Spanish forums. Sorry

Some people will only get engaged if the community is built up. They do not want to be the one building up a place.

They other language areas may not have the critical mass of people and stuff to attract people.

Peronally I prefer the opposite. The long stuggle of the bild up appeals to me.

Possibly advestising targeted directed towords the language departments of the languages that need more players.

"Work on your spanish while playing online" etc.

I have been promoting Cantr on the www.fireflyfans.net forums but I'm not sure if it has had any effect. But they speak mostly English though Firefly has become widely popular throughout the world recently with it being released in broadcast in other countries.

dont be that harsh, I mean most of you will know how to speak english, american, australian, irish, scotish(actually maybe not scottish) and that amounts to 5 languages.

Well that is rubbish, American is english, it is just a seperate accent, (But some places might have different languages, which would not be considered 'american')

Also, scottish, and irish is also just an accent, so is welsh, but they have there own seperate languages, Gaelic irish/welsh/scottish..
And i don't talk them just plain english, and i think that the average person speaks 0.9 languages too. :)

So THERE! :P :D

lol...Myself Oasis and Susie found a game to play the other day while cantr was down, called cybriq. I kindly promoted cantr on their forum. XD

At any rate, *logs into yahoo chat* there are french and spanish speaking rooms. Quite a few people disregard advertisements in chat rooms/spam, but not everyone does. Afterall that is where my husband saw someone posting an ad for cantr, and what origionally brought us both to the game.

If someone could come up with a nifty little paragraph or sentence, I'd be willing to copy and paste it trillions of times over  Lord knows I have enough sn for yahoo to at least get a few more people to check it out. I'd write it up myself, but as said once before, I'm not fluent enough in any language besides english to make a understandable sentence.
I know some foods, and my basic hello's, along with a very few verbs of about three languages. XD I wish i did know more. :)

As for the other language areas not doing so well, I don't know why. I let my char in the French area go, because translators offer no help, even if you do know a few bits and pieces of a language. XD *Hopples off to search for some forums.*
