Best Weapon/Armor?

Wonder what the best weapon is? Obviously the sabre is powerful, but is it the best? If you compare the fact that a sabre is only composed of 100g of steel in 4 days, with the fact that a sword is composed of 120g of steel, but only taking 3 days, and compare both with the fact that a crossbow takes 200g of steel, 100g of iron AND 600g of wood over 10 days, one would think the crossbow would be the best since it has the most resources and the most man days. but it could be argued that that increase is based on its long range potential as well.
or perhaps a particular tool is better than any weapon?

anyone know which is supreme?

that goes for shields too. iron isn't particularly as strong as say steel, but is it stronger than a shell? or maybe wood trumps it all?

These are questions that should be asked in character. :)

As I mentioned before a golden ring is more expensive to make than many of the shields but does not protect as well. :)

Well on the topic, this is the loadout of my chars, 2 have iron shields and sabres, 5 have iron shields and they have fists(1 char), war bow(1 char), hutning bow (2 chars), pickaxe(1 char); plus the majority have lower weapons. Finally the other 1 has a wooden shield with hunting bow, that one's on a bit shaky mental groudns.[/url]

Hm...6 have iron shields and sabres, 2 or 3 have iron shields and war bows, and most of the rest have some sort of shield and/or weapon...only my newspawns are completely defenseless.

Most of my characters merely have an Iron Shield, one has a wooden shield sabre, fishing spear 2 hunting bows a billy club and a blow dart gun. Overall most of my chars are lightly armed and armoured with about 2 being heavily armed.

I only have one character who doesn't either have an iron shield or an almost finished shield project. My characters have a healthy respect for their own lives. :)

Oddly, I have one crossbow, one sabre, and no other weapons at all.

and only 2 characters have no weapon or form of protection at all.

Right now, I have six characters with weapons of steel. As far as what they are currently carring on their persons:

13 sabres
4 crossbows
2 battle axes
1 sword

Ten of my characters have iron shields.

So someone's carrying like 10 sabres? Guess you can't let those things circulate.

I wonder what it would look like for someone to be carrying around that many weapons all the time, while trying to appear diplomatic.
