Machines

Postby Mr Peanut » Wed Jan 21, 2004 3:46 am

I'm confused on machines. Do things like carrot harvestors produce resources on their own, or do they increase the amount of resources a person can gather in a day. If they do produce resources on their own, can you build a resource specific machine away from a resource (like a potato harvester away from potatoes, or drills away from mountains) and have it actually gather those resources?

I believe the way it works is machines are like heavy-duty tools. So it helps gather the resource faster, but you need to be in a place that has that resource to gather in the first place.

Cause I see like huge amounts of resources just appear on the ground with no mention of anyone dropping them.

When a project finishes that the intiator can't carry, it ends up on the ground.

Machines like carrot harvesters can only be built where the resource exists. They are like tools, sort of. They can only have one project at a time, but as many people can work on it as you want. So, it's like a super-communal-tool.

Actually that is not true anymore. I believe at least some of the machines have a limit of how many people can participate on the machine.
