Characters need to quit having morals

Where do morals come from? In general they are taught. They are not just instilled inside the genetics of a person, but in Cantr we have plenty of characters who act incredibly moral and yet weren't even taught those morals. It makes me sick. Cantr is not a society simulator and will never be. It's a liberal society simulator. Make people instilling their morals into a game a possible OOC offense and maybe we'll get somewhere. Make people have to act like they are LEARNING their morals.

will never happen.

if your lucky, people (like me) will be in the area who let the place they spawn in shape them.

umm... personally I think that morals have a divine connection, as according to my religion...

But also, personalities of the carracters can also dictate their moralness. (and plus... you haven't been to drojf, have you? there are quite a lot of immorall characters in cantr. *nods*)

Well if a person can remember their morals the first 20 years, who's to say they can't remember other crap as well?

Uhm, they learn their morals from the laws they see in towns and such. Some never learn those morals or hold them close, others do. But the laws against killing and thieving (which could be learned from simple survival tactics of the beginnings.. you can't build a functional, industrial town if you kill everyone that comes along..) have been around for years by now. If you're tired of moral characters, find places you can worm your way in and slowly instill less "moral" morals into the younger generations.

They do remember other things. Sometimes, I'll have my characters explain their personalities through events that happened before they spawned. (I don't mean OOC information, of course)

But morals would not have a religious origin in a game--and frankly most societies, regardless of whatever god or gods they worship, have agreed that random killings are very bad. Of course, your average atheist would agree wholeheartedly.

Perhaps morals are evolutionary?

And there's nothing wrong with Drojf! It's... capitalism!

Transformers... decepticons tend to disagree with this point of view.

Felin did.

From what I understand, Felin had a couple of followers and help. That's not building one by killing everyone that comes along.

If morals need to be taught.. Where did morals come in the first place?
And even if your parents are teaching you 'the right' and 'the wrong' and still you hit someone, because __you thought it was right__.

In my opinion morals come from yourself, you define what is right and wrong. You come up with these values by seeing other people (and/or yourself) doing something and then you find it gross/interesting/cool/disgusting/etc.

So I wouldn't really say that morals are taught only, though it is a major part of where the morals now days come from. And still there are serialkillers, dictators trying to distinguish everyone but "his people", etc.

I'm sorry if someone posted something like this before, my eyes just can't keep open for so long that I'd read these posts :)

I'm not trying to be all philosophical here, i'm just saying newspawns come about and start questioning the way a society is with a quickness and imposing different LIBERAL ideas onto the society. Where did they get these morals? Freedom of speech was unheard of 500 years ago throughout the world and even today in many places it is too. Why are people who are spawned suddenly given the knowledge that freedom of speech is a humanitarian right. How do they know the value of freedom of speech? It took society hundreds of years to figure it out. Yet these newspawns seem to have it figured out the second they come to Cantr.

Buncha bull if you ask me.

Yeah, it's annoying when people start questioning how the society works even though they've never seen another kind of society. Maybe if they live there a while and notice that they are being oppressed then they can start longing for freedom and move elsewhere or try to change their society. But many people don't give it a chance, they just move on if they don't like the laws.

Often when I spawn in some place or area another character of mine has been to, there is that "Oh no, this place sucks! And it doesn't fit the personality I was planning for them." Yet I never leave the location straight away. I always give it a chance. And often I've even learned to like the location because it's home for that character.
There was only one case where my character left wandering and doesn't give a rat's ass about where he spawned. He considers himself Siomese even though he left that place years ago and would most likely be accused of piracy if he ever returned.

If you're characters don't like the morals of others, if you think they are too liberal or restrictive, kill'em all.

But this won't answer the question of from where comes the moral of your characters pissed off by others' morals.
