Any ideas you have to spread the word of cantr, post them here. For now, I'm thinking a wikipedia article, as well as one on that wikia site. What do you guys have?

I am pretty sure that there is at least one other long topic about this same thing.

There is.. stickied in the Suggestions forum

The article we had on Wikipedia got deleted because it didn't meet their qualifications. Not for lack of trying to save the article either. Putting an article on wikia.com seems like a good idea though.
Suggestions need to go in the thread I linked though.

The article sucked (at least the initial one), it was clearly for advertising purposes. And even though people started fixing it, it wasn't fixed fast enough. Besides, there are no articles about Cantr on any big site that would have some moderation, only pages that mention Cantr are people's homepages and listing sites where just about anyone can comment on stuff. Most of the comments are level "It's the coolest game in the world", though some are more in depth. But Wikipedia doesn't care about the opinion of regular people, they only care about official sources.
The reason the article still exists in other languages is that those languages are minor and their wikipedias accept material on lighter basis. The only link to Cantr in the Finnish Wikipedia is in a list of MMORPGs. I noticed the other articles in the listing are mostly stubs so compared to that, it's pretty good quality. I have been expanding it but all the information comes from me, edits by others have only been formatting and proofreading. But it's hard to stumble on the site when nothing links to it, and nothing can link to it because it's not a word that would be mentioned in an average article.

A Webzine article about the wikipedia page, player applicants and preludes to a marketing shortfall several months ago placing us in the situation we are in today:

An update on the current total # of players would be neat to know. As the above link shows, there were 1,925 (August 13, 2006) which declined to 1685 (September 16, 2006).

And what happened, I found this game from there browsing the articles about MMORPGs and then I noticed Cantr. Hey, this might be a good game. I have to try.
But there should be more articles about Cantr. There is a little article about Cantr in The Mud Connector but there is too much games in there and Cantr´s ranking is over 500. The article tells nothing special about Cantr. Only that is it free and it is some kind of society simulation.

I'd volunteer to write up a more effective wikipedia article, that isn't so likely to get removed, if I could get a little help on what I should put in it.

If we wanted to narrow a description of Cantr down to 5 keys points that would be the central marketing points, what would those 5 points be?
-Slow Paced
-Free
-?

What do you mean by "extremely open-ended"?
And no leveling/class system, I would think skills are something like that.

Perhaps "Player Driven" would be a better marketing point?

Without limiting numbers, what you should do is have people list everything that they like about the game. Then, after people have had enough time to post, say a couple weeks, go over the list and pick 5 things that popped up most. If there are more then up the listing, if less, then lower it.
Now, the things I like about Cantr:
Freedom to play how I want to play
The games unique design
The fact that things are happening while Im not logged in
Constant additions/tech support *something that isnt marketed enough*
Its free
There is always something to do (as long as you look for it)
All characters will be different, never can have the same experience *something else to market*
I could go on but I am sure you all get the idea.
