Is that a CRB? The guy talking about the god damn elves in Kwor. That's so annoying, lol. But is it a CRB? It's OOC information, it's exactly the same as saying 'I am looking for computer games, is EB around?'.. as opposed to 'I am looking for elves, from LOTR'.

The description of elves (unlike any of my elfin mates...) and style of writing makes me think that the player wasn't actually asking 'where are the elves' but just playing yet another 'weird' character...

well quirky, innit

I think it's been said before that there's no breach if the char believes in something weird, (like any religion!)). It's up to your char to educate/ridicule/jail him depending on whether you think he is backward/stupid/dangerous.
You never know, in a small town he might find another that believes she is an elf.

No, I mean, like, oh my days, this guy, or this bird, or whatever, right. They musta been like, we got to make this character, right? And, like, they were thinking, like, sure, let's make up some character that's gonna be like, well quirky, like, mad and crap. And they were thinking, right, that, like, how to chat like mad crap and shit. And, like, you know, they thought, how 'bout elves. 'Cos they're well mad, innit? Anyways, it's so extra quirky, right, and this character is just cahttin right, but, then, like, some dude, he just slates it. Like totally dissin' it. Saying you can't chat elf crap and shit. So it's like. Nah man, you gots told. Shame.

Innit?

As far as I remember you're not supposed to play elves, witches, dogs etc. Basically, you can't play that you're anything but a human.

Why?

"There are no mystical creatures or magical powers in cantr."

There was once a person who was pretending that his character was a dog and was asked to stop.

You can play any kind of eccentric human you want. They can be midgits and even have huge ears. You can be deaf, blind or just plain old stupid. You can bark at people or TELL people that your religion can make people do things if you just say a few words over a pot of stew and it's up to the characters in your surrounding if they belive it, but there are no witches or gnomes or tinkerbells.

but that doesnt mean that the person's character can't LOOK for elves.

Given, he may never find one, but if you think about it are elves magical? (well, they can be) but in the cantr context, can't an elf be a human with tall stature and pointy ears?

I don't know. But all I wanna know is, how do they know to look for them? Wouldn't it be a CRB for just having your character know about them, much less search for them? I could see if the thing saught after was made up, fresh off the pile. But using a pretty set in place word or name like elf... I dunno,. Somthing about it I just don't like.

I don't like it either, so my charrie told him that he never heard of elves, but maybe the blackrocks killed them off.

Don't see the problem. What's the difference between elves, gods, the changers the Glitches or all the other characters invented by characters either to explain mechanics or further their own ends.

As with using RL people or fictional character's names to name Cantr characters, I think it's considered more lacking in imagination than a real breach. Since we use RL languages it's impossible to draw the line and say you can use this word but not that word.

I try not to use any English words that do not exist in the Cantr game mechanics in some way. For instance I don't use the word 'week' since it's not a Cantr measure of time. I say seven days. Also, I wouldn't say something like 'smooth as a baby's butt' because there are no babies in Cantr (yet!).

When my chars hear someone use a word like 'elf' they treat it like any other made up word in Cantr by saying things like, "What the heck is an elf?" Hopefully this gets the other player thinking about what they are having their char say (doesn't usually work).

my charrie told him that he never heard of elves, but maybe the blackrocks killed them of

 It looks like the Blackrocks are destined to become the evil boogymen of the K-Island
