i was wondering if there is a possibility in first lithuanian island to put some limestone, because trying to trade it from somewhere else causes difficulties...

if it is not possible to do this, then pls balance the resourses, that they would be tradable, for eg...

try putting more resourses that would be a nessesary later, like oil propane and such

Welcome to the hard Cantr life :)

Allocation of old resources is (almost) forbidden.

If lithuanian island is a bad one, you will have to do your best.

But don't feel abandoned, you are not alone in the dark:

Spanish/German/Dutch/French people don't have hemp (so their strings, ropes and sails are around 100 times more expensive than other language groups').

Other language groups don't have (direct) access to iron.

And I'm sure there are more (and worse) cases.

Swedish islands have the ingredients of iron spread between three islands so it's impossible to make iron without boat travel.

With limestone its ok. But one thing isnt natural. Like hemp. This resourse shouldnt be almoste in all regions. There is no logic why entire island dosent have one. Silk could be les popular, but hemp and that plant from which linen is made should be very popular.

No, without limestone means no iron or steel, that's really tough. No hemp means you can work around it if you can find silk or cotton on the island.

Thats the idie, that there is no silk, no cotton or hemp. Thats very odd. Hemp i think should be very comon in evry country. At least in several places on island. And i talk not just about lithuanian island. i'm talking about all the islands/continents.

Without limestone means that you have to build a dinghy or a loongboat (no iron needed) to look for another island, with limestone.

And hemp "should" be common, or not.
In RL, hemp was not so common at least in the beggining, and it became more common due to artificial spreading of the plant (humans introducing the hemp into places different from its original).
If plants could be take from one place an put into another, we could have hemp (almost) everywhere.

Hemp allways was comon. Maby just later it was used. Now if town has galeons, rakers, and other quite modern things, just dont have hemp or cotton. Do you think its normal? a'm not saying that hemp should be in evry plase on island, but at least in one place for sure. With limestone its all ok.

You know what's real common? Flax. But people didn't want to add yet another type of yarn and cloth because it's too complicated.

Oh, rigth. Flux. My mistake. But if its too complikated then hemp coud replase flux. Cos if flux/hemp will cost more then gold (maby iron in cantr) then its the moste dumbest thing i've ever seen. And i'm not talking just about our island.

Nothing but hidrogen was always common.
I mean, humans are common? yes, once they spread all over the world, but not before. Everything has a start point.

shapukas wrote:Now if town has galeons, rakers, and other quite modern things, just dont have hemp or cotton. Do you think its normal?

Yes.
For example, cattle farming, intuitively, shall be common all over the world in the 15th century, isn't it?
Until its colonization, America was (almost) free of cattle farming due to the lack of animals able to be domesticated.

So, if you haven't a resource needed for making something, you won't be able to make that thing, no matter how advanced other technologies were.

Just because with hemp all would be easy?
Ey, man, I don't want to calculate how many days my sailor characters would be working for getting their first small sail just because they only have access to cotton, and cotton processing is 10 times slower than hemp.
You have to understand that differences in the resources among places/islands brings more diversity to trade, politics, wars and cultures in general, and that is "funny".

You could ask for an improvement of cotton technologies (already rejected), but not for making all the places equals (and thus boring to explore)

Hemp is more than rather cheap, in places where it is.

Cotton cloth costs more than steel. It is not dumb, it is just rather different (weird) from what we know in real life. And it is a big fat pain in the ass, but... -shrugs one's shoulders-
But this game is full of people that hates realism. Don't try to fight the mass, they will trample over you.

I don't know if moving this to General Discussion or Rejected Suggestions...

I would understand if iron elements were very hard to finde, but materials for clothing. It is veru wierd. Youll say fure, skins then for clothing. But how will look townsfolk, driving cars, drest only in skin pants or something like that. And i dont whant evry island to be equal.

Really, Lithuanian is perhaps the poorest region I've seen in Cantr. Yes, we can hunt and dig carrots, and we can even make clothes. We can build houses of mud and wood and stone, but that's about it. We do not have any resources to advance to higher tech levels. We cannot even make decent cloth as we don't have the resouces (no hemp, no silk, no cotton, except for wool which is very scarce and useful for clothing only).

Of course, we can sail the seas and get the resources from other islands, but hey, what to we have to offer for trade? Bones and stones? Well, on the other hand, there are lot's of opportunities to adopt the ways of the vikings, I guess.. :)

I won't say hide and fur.

I'll say cotton, leather and silk, besides hemp.

You say "everyone should have hemp at hand, because we all can't dress the same (hide and fur)". Well, everyone have access to some of leather, cotton, hemp or silk.
So I don't get your point.
