Suggestions for the game.. Addons verses Updates

You can't deny it. Heaps of people have been really frustrated with Cantr being changed and updated so much, with so many new features that its:
a) confusing for new players
b) increasing the learning curve by miles
c) making Cantr slower (slightly, but it is doing that)
d) making Cantr hard to come back to after leaving
e) causing even older players to not understand the new features
f) well this sums it up, from hallucinating farmer: (formerly known as hf)

Sometimes, I feel Cantr starts to resemble one of those wonderfully cute, very loveable, often impressive, but fundamentally pointless pieces of artwork by toddlers.
You know the kind, and eggbox with paper glued to it, with toilet rolls glued to it, with paper selotaped on, with lollypop sticks stuck to that, with pieces of cloth, some fuzzy felt for good measure and lots more PVA and some crayon decorations...

Some people have been confused about my posts in the Suggestions forums over the past three years+ (on my other account too). What my intentions are, are not to flame the person (though, yes, :( sometimes it is) but usually to protect Cantr from becoming HF's analogy, or worse.
..if there is one.

So that is really it. Addons (bad!!! ) versus Updates (GOOD! :D :D )
Addons being "Hey lets make spaceships!"
Updates being "Let's re-order the build menu" or "Lets fix the current dragging algorithim"

Comments? Anyone who has a different opinion to my own?

I know in small proportions, addons are good.. otherwise...

Yes, well...
Any change is resisted by some, (most?) but they adapt to them, and they're not all bad by any means.
I've mentioned myself the "feature creep" and steeper learning curve, but no longer being a newbie I don't know how this is being received. When I started, pre-wiki, the game was most confusing. At least now they have a fighting chance.
It's so tempting to make suggestions, so you can't really complain when one or two aren't rejected, can you?

Hmm, I kind of mean like, new things to Cantr, and yes 'feature creep' was the word I was looking for, you must have been the person to inspire me some time ago to lead up to this- it's been nagging at me for some time to post something about it.

I think you're quite a bit lost. First of all, we already had a weapon system and deffense system for the longest time. The changes that have been made to it which would be skills, tiredness etc are merely add-ons.
"To make fighting better." "To make the game more realistic." "To make fighting more realistic." IE "You don't hit someone and then turn around and be able to hit another person without getting tired." An add on which wasn't appreciated.

The roads being unknown came after we had to learn to name people all over again. Someone said, "I don't see why we should know what things are called when we're spawned anyway. We should have to learn it all. I think everything should be unknown." So they started with roads and now they're thinking about doing it to buildings. =Add on.

I'm tired of the focus being on skills/buildings/food/diseases/tiredness and repairs. Naming, signs etc.

I'm interested in something entirely new. Weather? Babies? At least give me something to focus on beside all the other junk that is really starting to get on my nerves.

No but I have built some plates and made mashed potatoes. And I had a suit coat made for my char, I hadn't seen those yet, but when I did I was like..."Wayyyy coool!" Wth is a still anyway?

Yea, I agree with Missy. I like some of the "add-ons." I think they add more to the game than a lot of the "updates" sometimes. I'd rather see new and fresh than see something screwed up (more) most of the time. Though not everything gets messed up through updates (weapon changes) and not everything completely new is really all that intriguing (eating sickness). I think both elements are necessary for the game and both contribute for better or worse.

Disclaimer: Those examples are just my opinion on some things I do or do not like or see value in.

Nah, I don't really care as long as it's not forced. I do have one or two chars that would probably like children if they knew about them.
