Keyboard focus to talk field

When you go to the character page, the focus of the keyboard automatically goes to the talk field, so you can quickly type and press enter, without using the mouse.
More often than saying something, however, you want to just read what's happening thus far. So you need arrows to move around. But with the current focus, I'm browsing things I previously said instead of reading the events page ...
... am I the only one who gets frustrated about this on a daily basis?

Well, to be honest with you I never really noticed the difference before. I mean I just use my mouse to do it all. I have to use it to select a character under the character menu, so I might as well use it to scroll through the events. *shrugs* If it bothers you though, they could change it. It wouldn't matter to me either way.

I personally like the focus, just because it means I can press enter, and also because I never use the arrows anyway, other than to scroll through text

I use the roller thing on my mouse to scroll, so it doesn't really affect me. If I didn't have that, though, I'd be using arrows and it would definitely irritate me. :/

I personally use the roller on the mouse myself, though I could see the predicament of using the arrows and not being able to use them. I find that usually I have abit of reading to do before I reply to what has been going on on each of my characters.

As a non-mouse user, it doesn't bother me. I normally do a ctrl+end to get to the bottom of the page and work up if I want to read the messages, but otherwise landing on the edit box is fine.

I'm surprised there's still mouses (or mice... is it still mice when it's not an actual animal) without the roller. I've grown so much accustomed to it that, that in school when I'm on that one computer that has a plain mouse, I find myself stroking the middle of the buttons, wondering why doesn't this scroll?

Yeah me too...
Is this a linux thing or a freaky programmer whose brain is atuned to navigating around the screen with the keyboard thing?

Ok, I'll tell you when I use keyboard arrows. Normally I use Logitech MX1000 mouse with every gadgets possible, but everyday when I wake up, first thing i have on mind is Cantr (how similar to somokers, who always think about cigarette first). Luckily I have my own laptop, so I keep it close enough to my bad to use it, without getting up. It is very uncomfortable to use a mouse from that position, so I use laptop's touchpad. Touchpad is not the best for scrolling so I prefer to use keyboard arrows instead. And here comes the annoying chatbox thing!
P.S. I am totally serious!

Exactly, I also use a laptop most of the time, without mouse ...
And using the mouse all the time is not healthy, either ...
R.S.I. ... using the mouse all the time is too repetitive

...
And finally, yes, bit of a linux geek

I use my laptop to play all the time, but I am used to just moving the touchpad 2 cm to click and drag down the page, it's really not difficult. However, I always press enter to write as it is universal with most websites etc, and the arrows to scroll through writing like on word as otherwise it's tricky. So please don't change it

Yea, I use a touchpad. Never had anything else on my own personal comp. I hate using the keyboard arrow keys to scroll anyway, and my touchpad has a scroll thing on the side, though I rarely have used it, not being used to it yet (new comp). I find that if I click on the scrollbar anyway, I can scroll up/down really smoothly without ever lifting my finger from the touchpad again.

To be honest, I never realized that I could, "the focus of the keyboard automatically goes to the talk field, so you can quickly type and press enter, without using the mouse. "
I always click on the talk field before typing, no matter what. Habit obviously, but I wonder where I picked that up from.
And I too have the wheel to scroll on my mouse, and if I'm not typing, my hand's always on the mouse so therefor haven't had the problem you do.
