Hi everyone, I'm working in marketing and I was curious if any of you have legitimate artwork that I could use to advertise this fine game. Artwork can consist of ANYTHING some what related to Cantr, but it must be yours. You can PM me for my email (I'm not putting it openly on a forum) and you can attach any files and email them directly to me so I can figure out how to use them. If I happen to use your artwork, I'll be sure to show the end result to you, so you can see what your work went to

thank you everyone

Hmm, if we trick people into thinking we have -any- graphics then we're still at square one when they come and realise the most they're getting is a map, a location image, and a few weapon/tool designs when making weapons/tools.

Can we not turn this into a discussion about using graphics or not ... if you have nice ideas for graphics or you know or can create some artwork, or any other constructive comments, please post here, otherwise, please don't

Seems to me the strength and appeal of the game is three-fold: dynamic and engaging role-play, exploration of a fascinating world, and the building of things.
Role-playing is tough to convey graphically... but a cool, elegant font (just a trifle high-brow) would help articulate a feeling of imagination and exploration. Exploration can be represented in all kinds of ways: a map, a ship, those wonderful location images in the upper-left corner of the forum page. Building things could be represented with a hammer an anvil, or a schematic of some kind.
In fact, it might be a good idea to create several banners, one for each aspect of the game to be marketed. I'm just spit balling, but any good logo design starts with a clear understanding of the sell-points, those conceptual cornerstones that define how we hook the potential buyer (or in this case, participant).
What are those qualities? What demographic is being targeted and what needs/desires of that demographic are we appealing to. Answer those questions and the choices that need to be made will have a clear criteria.

Just my 2 cents.

Two cents are always appreciated, cause if enough people offer two cents you end up with 100

ok, a cheesy saying, I know.
But over all we need some help from the players of Cantr. The MD can only do so much, and Im new and know this. Any graphical help will be appreciated, trust me, and any thing such as banners, sigs, catchy sayings, ANYTHING artistic is just as appreciated. I am sure some of you have thought of something catchy or funny about Cantr while playing, so just send them to those of us in the MD. For all you know, that little joke in your head could bring in hundreds of more members, and create more Role Playing oppurtunities in our world known as Cantr.

Ooh, that's an exciting page.
I'd already made my own, rather less arty version for my website (
http://www.hairywhale.co.uk). If I was going to use the ones on that page, I'd have to crop them as they're all far too big for me, though since it's not exactly hard for me to do that, maybe I'll change it sometime.

If I had any idea how to make animated gifs I would be doing something but I don't. I think a banner based on the "a man in his twenties" theme would be cool. I know it's areference for existing players really but at the same time something could be done with it? Like a guy with the smiley face?

You can use the clothing pictures in the wiki if you'd like. Some people just might not like their style, at least the early ones.

Banners 5 and 6 look really nice. I must have seen them before, but forgot about them. They convey the open-endedness of the game, the exploration character, it's greenness

... They are, probably, the best ones to use for regular size banners. Don't you guys agree?

I like 4 and 5 the best for regular sized banners.. so I half agree with you, Jos.
Unless you were counting from bottom up and then the ones I like are 5 and 6... <.< I like the two green ones with shadowed landscapes in the background. Especially the one that says "your actions make the history, what will you do?". It's definitely my favorite and captures Cantr the most in my mind.

Yeah, the counting is a bit vague

... I moved my mouse over the banner to see what number is in the URL

...
So I think we agree, or not?

I think we agree then.

So, preferably five, although 4 and 6 are workable also? Ok, I will be sure to use those particular banners in the near future

Still, I hope the offer stands of me using your artwork for another Cantr banner

While the banners are beautiful, if we could incorporate some more detailed graphic, of more GIF images as banners, that would be wonderful. The flashier, the more eye catching to other gamers. Its not only that though, graphics could be used on a number of other things which could enrich the game abit more.
