Question about original Cantr Creators?

I have been playing Cantr for several months now, and I have read all about how it was created and why, and my question is this.

Are the original game creators that started the game still around on the forums or in the game ect...? If they are, then who are they?

I was just curious if they still played and ran it, or if they had handed it over to Jos and Wichita ect...?

Anyways, any info would be apreciated. :D

Oh wow, I kinda got mixed up there. lol. Well thanks. Is he the only game creator that is still here, or was he the only one there ever was?

The only one :P, but of course since then many people have come and gone from the many departments, and each of them has inputed their own things into the game to make it better, such as the Resources Department thinking up ideas and the ProgD implementing them, so each of them could in their own way be called a game creator

Yeah I had alrady read that Sho, I guess I missed the name at the bottom though. lol.

So none of his friends that used to play in RL with him helped him on the game?

Hmm..... I've never read that before Sho, but it's really interesting with all the lego society and things....

So Jos, do you still look at and pay attention to all the comings and goings in Cantr? And does the person you created the lego society with play?

That has been answered in the cantr webzine: http://www.cantr.net/e107 . That's what it's there for, you know ;)

I read the interveiws, and was quite suprised to see that he envisions the ideal way the game should be the same way I do, why are people so against any form of war and violence in the game? Let's build empires! Let's have difficulties in controlling the outermost cities in the empires and difficulty moving aid around them when wars happen with other empires because of size! And of course last of all let's have those that prey on the empires, the buisnessmen that take away their income, the theives and pirates, and small bands of nomads that randomly attack cities (Baron esce :P). This sounds like -way- more fun than the typical let's all be at peace towns we have at the moment

Yes, when I used to play regularly, I made sure it was exciting ;). I hope all the peace is just a reflection of the sincere hopes of worldwide Cantr players. But, more likely than not, it's reflective of their laziness.

I come here to avoid war! :) I just spent 45 minutes stealing gold, killing mercenries, breaking walls, and being generally a right pain in the backside to all my enemies on war of empires... now it's time for me to have a more relaxing time...!

You can be at peace and not be lazy, I'm sure.

I've never actually been in a Cantr war (except briefly in the Baron one if that counts, and besides one attack that luckily missed all the 'action' I saw was helping evacuate the forest and then putting up with the idiotic 'leadership' in Sjoftich until my char finally decided the whole thing was hopeless and left...and I still don't quite understand how the Barons were actually stopped... :?)

But anyway, I'm wandering off here....what I was going to say was that the major part of a war in Cantr would probably be in preperation and recruiting and planning and planning and then planning some more. (that last part's my favorite for any major event...I don't know what it is about Cantr that brings out the detail-obsessed control freak in me. :D)

Obviously it's not like that game you're talking about where you can do all that if 45 minutes...more like 45 days, and even that's assuming everything goes perfectly smoothly from start to finish, and that you already have a head start on weapons and vehicles.

Unfortunatley the long length of time it takes is also the reason you hardly see anything more than a pirate raid now and then (and usually the 'pirates' just run in and out of the unlocked buildings real quick and then undock...). Before you were actually ready to go to war, most of your people would have probably had a heart attack or fell asleep or wandered off with your weapons, and then of course good luck finding replacements, you'll likely never see that many people at the same time again who agree that A.) you're not an evil tyrant for wanting a war in the first place, and B.) they have any reason to interrupt the personal project they're working on and go out of the way to help their town.

Was there a post from Sho that disappeared? :)

At the moment I pay a lot of attention to Cantr, at least OOCly. I play only two unimportant characters, though, and am not really well informed of in-game developments. But my attention goes up-and-down. For about half a year I had done very, very little and only in the last month or so have I gotten more involved again. Probably this will be reduced again sometime. I try to leave as much as possible to other staff members, but sometimes can't resist doing stuff myself, especially programming ;) ...

Sico is the person I used to play with and he has currently no characters in the game. But this is only since a couple of weeks - until then he was actively playing. He's also OOCly involved, but very much behind the scenes. That is to say, he has no practical involvement and doesn't attend the forums much, but we did talk on the phone about Cantr, so he always was an important advisor. He was, because there is nobody else in this world who better understands what kind of game I tried to create :). Besides, he has a natural conservative inclination, whereas I have a natural let's change it all inclination, so it balances nicely :) ...

Thanks for the post Jos. It did answer alot of my questions.

So you and Sico were pretty much the ones that started the game by yourselves?

That's the impression I get from his speech. :D
