I'd like to see small islands with one - three locations pop up in vast expanses of ocean... I'm talking even smaller than the smallest island at the moment... It would be very interesting to see how characters develop in such a small place.
*you can tell he just watched Lost*

This could only be of any use if it was very close to a populated location...
Otherwise:
a) noone would ever find it,
b) everyone there would starve!
It's a great idea but surely ir more of a suggestion?

Only that there has been public talk of creating a physically isolated area for the first character of every new player . If such a tutorial region is implemented it would most probably be a totally seperate area - with a new map - with no mean of travel between the existing world and this new one.

Perhaps a small underwater volcanic eruption could be brought forth,

then add some resources bit by bit to simulate growth/errosion whatever.

The final map, in terms of coastline, has been finished for ages already... There were just a few instances of unallocated resources not that long ago...

I found an archipelego thingy! A series of small islands just offshore a larger one. Just, you know, in case you were interested.
