Well, even if you would claim your copyrights, the piracy will kill the buisness. Duplicating notes is as easy as picking up objects :/

Ya and plus you can commit crimes like that in this game and its not against the rules which is really awsome. WHat I think ill do is write the book and sell like 20 copys only to like leaders of citys and stuff so I initially make money.

There are both works of fiction and non-fiction in character.

For example, my characters have been responsible for 'The Ranger's Tale' and 'The Hobbes Encyclopedia' albeit received no compensation--apart from an exclusive donation.

Oh cus Im working on a story about a blind navigator and record keeper on a ship when his village was attacked byn pirates his family was captured. He became blind from a desease he cought that deteriorates his vision. This book is in-charachter fiction its based on real towns and places but the story itself is not real.

I have thought a lot about writing a story of all my adventures in the game, and including the towns and people that I met. So yes, I think that you could make money writing books. People would enjoy reading and learning about the world of Cantr and all the fascinating places that you can visit. I believe it would greatly influence the amount of people that would start traveling to seek their own adventures. I would greatly like to read your book when it is done.

:D

well, you could read the book if you meet the character IC.

Otherwise, that might be venturing into that grey area...

I mean, if you distribute this book over the forums, someone might call it a CRB. I doubt it, as things have been published in the webzine, but that would be the place to distrubute it OOC.

It really sucks that copies can be made instaneously, but one thing you could do is hide an invisible piece of text in the note, then set it uneditable and hand it out to the customer. Use a different serial number for each copy. That way if you start seeing extra copies floating around, you'll know where the leak started from. One problem is if you can read the source code to check the watermark, then so can everyone else who knows even a bit about computers. But if you use a more complex system for watermarking than just "#1 #2 #3" then if they want to use another watermark, they can't figure out what to put there and you'll instantly recognize an illegal copy.

If you manage to charge the customer for the copy then they're unlikely to hand it around for free. One problem is that when they die, an uneditable note cannot be wiped, so other people might find it and not know of it's value, so they'll start copying it without remorse.

Speaking at the author of a coastal map to a certain island... people didn't want to pay for it, the best offer was some potatoes so I realized the strategic advantage of holding it to myself. Let them go through all the work of mapping the island if they won't feel like paying.

I would never pay for a work of fiction in Cantr. I have too many other notes cluttering my inventory that I haven't read yet...
