Pirog, good job! Your posting on the Swedish forum delivered us a whole bunch of new players yesterday :) ... Perhaps it is about time to get a Swedish translator into the languages department and start Swedish spawning locations? :)

I saw Cantr only on the Swedish part of that site, so I just added an add to the International part - see if that's also as popular :D ...

Oh, btw, Pirog, could you translate your posting to English for me? :) I'm curious what text worked so well ...

I'm happy to be able to give something back to you :)

I didn't write anything special, but I used to be an administrator there, so many people know me there I guess.
It is a rather big site, with about 50,000 members so some people were bound to try it :)

"Headline: Funny, serious RPG game

It may not look very flashy, but it is damn funny and will evolve continually in the future. (Put some preassure on you there :P)

You can have up to 15 characters and together with others you form socities, produce food/tools/vehicles etc. based on the natural resources that are available.

No hack n' slash, this is more serious.

It is totally free and there is a nice forum where you can drop ideas or just discuss things with people"

If you were to start up a Swedih section I could help with the translation, but most Swedes are practically fluent in English so I don't think it would be any great need for it :)

But if you need any help, just ask...

Hmm...but from an advertising view it might be good with a Swedish section.
And Cantr really needs some axe-wielding vikings :D

Like it needs a large hole in the head.

But vikings are known for that, eh?

Actually, there is a viking wandering around. Erik the Red...forget where, but KF, possibly.

What about that Lenseth?

My family is suppose to be closely related to the Erikson's which was suppose to be a large and powerful Viking family. But that is what my grandfather says and I myself haven't found any evidence of that though I can only track the Lenseth family back to my Great Great Grandfather who was Norweign and immigrated to America during the 1880's, Paulas (changed to Peter when he got to America) Olef Lenseth. And my Great Great Grandmother was Swedish though she lived for most of her life in Norway and married Paulas there before moving to America together. But from there out my family is Irish. My Lenseth's ancestors married into Irish families including my father. So there isn't very much in me but Irish though the others are there. The NAZIs would have called me an America Mutt because of my mixed heritage.

By the way, I posted an advert in the forum of another game (www.hattrick.org - worth checking out if you like soccer :))

So far I have at least managed to get one person there to check it out...weee!

The great thing about recruiting people to Cantr is that even a single person means 15 new characters in the game, so the effect can be pretty big with just one person.

If you would be willing to help translating to Swedish, I think that would be really cool :) ... Most Dutch people also speak English, yet the Dutch part of the game is going quite well. It's just fun to play a few characters in your own language too, and it will create interesting effects when different language groups meet.

So, if you would like to help translating - cool! Except that I cannot appoint you, I can only suggest you to the Languages Chair and the Personnel Officer and they'll handle it :) ...

We now have 28 Swedish players and by far most of them applied in the last two days. Very nice :) ...

Once I made a list of countries, sorted by the number of people that have internet access (to determine what would be good languages to start an area in). Sweden scored very high, so I have long wanted to start recruiting there. So I'm really happy with this one.

I think we should use the momentum and open a Swedish location fast :) ... Translating the website is only a second step - though crucial! -, the first is that people play in the language. Once some people play in the language, others will drop in and because the game in that location is all in the language already, it'll go fine. (In the Russian area there is a slight problem that it doesn't get off the ground and when people play, they tend to play in English - that is sort of forbidden :) ...)

Sure, if they want me I would be glad to help :)

From time to time I can run low on time, since I'm studying, but I'm usually very active.

When I get a hold of a printer I can put some posters up in the university.
Most of the people there are studying history and cultural studies, so they should be quite interested in a game like this.
(they would probably also be interesting as players...)
