Well, just fill in the poll - this time, by huge exception, the poll result will determine what we'll do

...
The poll will run for seven days.
Note that I will not change the language split (that is, characters are now first sorted on language, and then within those languages on age - this poll is only about this second sort).

I don't care. Before 8-12, I knew where to find my chars in the list. Now it's a list like in the game self (there the chars were already ordered by age, weren't they?).

I tipped the balance in favour of "don't care" it makes little difference to me, although it caught me out when I first noticed:
"What the hell is going on!??! Where has [character X] gone?!?! "*look of panic*

Personally I believe listing by name is easiest as you have some reference whereas with age - you don't always know/remember.
Also, how often have you honestly said "I wonder where that 32 year old is"? More than Likely people are thinking "Is John Doe here?"

I don't know what you mean.
Listing your characters I think has little effect, as you can still see where they are, and what their name for themselves is. It's just ordered for by their age.
You can see exactly the same information as being ordered by name, so I think it has no effect whatsoever.

I prefer name on the player page, but only because it's what I'm used to...it gives me a good routine. Now it's all confusing.

Personally, I voted for sorting by age. Well, duh, I was the one who changed it

... I like it better because I'm sometimes curious who of my characters is the oldest

... And I sometimes change the name (e.g. when a character gets a new rank) and this way, the list is more 'stable' in its order.
Just my reasons

I have also realised it gives you a better idea of your character's ages, whereas before you might not have realised it, and maybe we will bear their age more in mind

Is there any reason why sort tabs couldn't be included. And perhaps in future releases begin to build a "preferences" function so users can adjust which way it sorts by default?

I was thinking the same thing as I took my shakespeare final today.
Yeah: it wouldn't take too much effort to put a 'sort' tab there, or a button in 'preferences', would it?

I logged on today and was like, "oh! That's nice, ther characters are by age now. That make things much easier!" Yeah, so needless to say I like the change. My friend and I are always discussing what are characters are doing since none of them are anywhere near each other. But to retain a bit of anonimity we always refer to them by the order in which they were spawned instead of by name. I started to forget the order and was somewhat irked, but now I'll remember. Yayness. This order seems more natural to me.
