It never ceases to amaze me the power that players/chars give event logs. On occasion I will do them but only if time is a factor. At least one of my chars has handed over altered event logs as evidence. And one char was in a situation where an event log was demanded as the only acceptable proof, so mine handed over a copy that was altered in an over the top way.

Really, it's sad. For a game that so heavily involves roleplaying, players are missing out on a chance to do so. It's always more interesting to hear the char's perspective of events. Especially if the char often views things a little differently. Seeing a char's account of an event that is maybe a little skewed to the char's personality is so rare that I feel compelled to OOC the player to thank them.

Maybe some of the problem is that Cantrians do see/hear everything so it's expected of them to be able to repeat it all verbatim (including timestamp  ).

I wonder if it would be cool to roleplay being surprised to see these detailed accounts.
Like when you're handed a note and it's a log, your character asks if they have been stalking this person. :p

Hey, it means that you can make your life easier by rewriting a few choice words, if your char would do such a thing. I wonder why the events log couldn't be unselectable? Of course, everybody receiving email updates have a hand up on the cp competition.

But seriously I've used them for in game scams before, even the authorities can be super gullible about that sort of thing. One day I'm hoping to use it to fake a last rich will and testament and then to post that in the achievement thread :D. Now to wait for the town leader to die!

I'm sure I saw a scam involving a will, possibly two. I guess they were so long ago it is okay to tell now.

Klojt: There were two men from the mountains, around the time the Emerald Group hit New Xanthe and Dory. These two men were offered a room in a local's house. He had lots of machinery in the main room that they used. This man was good to them. One mountain man died while the other was very sleepy and got hungry, while they were in this house and in the main room. On the second one's death there was a will on the ground amongst his other belonging, leaving all his goods to the house owner. I'm fairly sure the will was a plant, slipped to the sleeping man before he died so it fell when he did. I remember thinking at the time that it was cleverly played and kudos to the player. This character is now dead also, but he was a character that I remember well.

Blojt: Similar story, man has a successful business, A@A trading, takes on a worker/ apprentice. I'm less sure that this was a plant, it may have been a will left by the owner of the business, but the death, although I the player was expecting it, was suspicious in a few ways, which left a little doubt. The young man who inherited was very nervous and left quickly with piles of goods and a long boat, only to be killed in Pok Harbour as " one so young could not own so much without stealing it".

I was going to put this in the Naming Issues thread but I figured here was a bit more appropriate.

I should spawn a character who renames everyone to whatever the heck s/he wants to call them and everyone just has to deal with it.

1835-2.28: You notice a man in his twenties whom you haven't seen before.
1835-2.28: a man in his twenties says: "Hello, my name is Bob."
1835-2.29: You say: "-he stares at the newspawn for a moment and then shakes his head- No. I don't like that name. Your name is now Fred."
1835-2.31: Marie "Jill" says: "Dammit, Billy, quit renaming people!"
1835-2.31: You say: "-he totally ignores Marie- Welcome, Fred! And that cranky lady there is Jill. Don't listen to a thing she says. You make a much better Fred than you would a Bob."
1835-2.31: a man in his twenties says: "Uh, you're creepy."
1835-2.31: You see a man in his twenties leaving Town, taking road to unnamed location.

I had one that did almost that same exact thing.

It irritates me to no end when a nameless newspawn appears, but then doesn't like anything you call them.

Think for me! I have no creative ability but I like RP games. RP at me! I will absorb it all and give you... nothing.

Characters with disabilities and no patience to RP them, so they take the shortcut...or just don't RP at all. Don't create characters like this if you're going to give it no effort.

What irks me beyond all belief is characters like this:

"Tall..well built, woman...lean muscular body.. light brown hair.. with streaks of gold.. pulled over to one side in a side sweep ponytail... that is braided a little on the end..showing off her diamonds earrings...large cobalt blue eyes....dark thick lashes, pouty full lips.

She is dressed in a clingy white cotton shirt... with ruffles all about the sleeves which extend to the wrists, ending widely ..in a very feminine flare... she has the shirt tail tied in a knot under her rib cage...the collar stands up ...showing off her long beautiful neckline open to expose her ample cleavage...a clingy skirt of Knit hugs her hips tightly starting just below her..flat tummy and belly button....exposing her tiny waist line ...shapely thighs... with a decorative trim that hangs to her ankles and bare feet. Wears fresh lavender in a crown in her hair..."

What a body, damn. /s

Oh, and she's so old you can't even guess what age she is any more. Really?
Really?

Age means very little to me in Cantr, especially when it comes to appearance. Chars can easily live well past 100 and their strength can only increase. It doesn't make sense for everyone to have frail, wrinkled and stooped people hobbling around. Considering they have (at this point) an infinite lifespan, I'd expect they don't show signs of old age even at 150.

I feel the same way, for me, characters age through experience, not physical age. I have characters who still act and look 20 because their life hasn't worn them down and trampled them. I have characters who I simply enjoyed as a cutie and chose not to age them and lose the cuteness, I've had characters throw their back out, develop limps from injuries that never go away, I've had gray hairs show, or characters have memory lapses, or the cold hurts their bones. It all depends on the character. If it's one I feel is no fun if they're old, I'm not gonna roleplay the aging process and make the character not fun for myself, but if I feel acharacter has a life that's fun to develop in ways like aging, sickness, etc., I'll have it happen.
