Yeah, I'm going to guess not, because not only do I not have any idea what you're talking about but I don't use smileys in game.

I'm pretty sure I've only OOC'ed two people in the relatively recent past, and I know who plays both their chars, and neither was you.
And I don't know anything about this shield business. I do know one of your characters though, but it's the obvious one, and I haven't seen her in a while.
If this all happened a couple cantr years ago though, there's a chance that I just forgot. =D

One thing I am sure of, and that is that the two of you are far off topic.
And I don't think wars are cool.

It -was- on-topic...but we got distracted. :p
WWII was an interesting war. As much as I don't like war, if something happens that's even remotely similar to that in complexity of the cause, I'd give credit.

Every time I see this topic pop up having new replies, I answer the question in my mind as "no". Fighting currently works so that either you get at least three people, preferably four or five, to attack a primary target at once to ensure they won't have time to heal in between, or pick a target who is asleep. Either this or drag into a locked building/cabin/hold. Most people have considerable stock of healing food so you can't count on their inability to heal themselves practically indefinitely. So any damage that doesn't lead into instant death technically doesn't count. This leads into fights being fast-paced when ever it's not about attacking unsuspecting people whose players are offline. It involves waiting and refreshing the page constantly when a certain tick is happening. It means you can't check other characters or other websites or other applications during that time because even seconds might lead into your character getting killed, or your friends hitting a target and that target healing and surviving because you couldn't hit fast enough. And when someone wins a fight, they usually get the spoils too, including unspent healing food. Someone wins several fights = lots of leftover healing food that the enemy didn't have time to spend = enabling the winner to disregard damage even further. It would be handy if people upon realizing they're going to lose could poison their leftover healing foods or burn them or dump them in the sea to avoid aiding the enemy. It would also be good if people didn't always die instantly so they would have time to do stuff/think about stuff. IRL people use mines because if a soldier dies, they can be buried on the spot or left there, but if a guy gets his leg blown off, he's going to need two healthy guys to carry him out of there.

Speaking of war, (In this thread? Who knew?) I'm a pretty "war as a very last resort type", but I've always been completely fascinated by warFARE.
OT: I hate to admit it, but while I normally think people need to be more willing to lose characters, there is one of my original two characters that I couldn't bear to lose and is my primary opposition to more cantr wars. At a number of points, that character has been the only thing keeping me from quitting, even though they didn't have a particularly interesting life or anything. He/she's not even one of my better played characters, I just have an inexplicable fondness for him/her.

Self-preservation makes sense. People go to war because they think they're going to win OR because they think they're going to lose and suffer without you and people like you doing their part.
I think I would be sad if any of my characters died, even if many of them would be lacking a purpose in life. Most of them have people they feel close to and would rather stay out of trouble to ensure those people won't have to suffer losses. But I guess a war involves the thought of the enemy invading your country (location) if you don't attack first. In that case sometimes not going to fight might lead into both you and the people you care about getting killed.

It's the aftermath of the wars that make me inclined not to like them. It's pretty much the same with every war that has happened or whenever a major conflict is resolved and that is of course the decline of the area. Seems to always happen for whatever reason.
Out of the few wars I've seen, I will give credit to the Blackwar war, that was amazing. Sadly same thing happened there that always happens once it was over.
