One of my fav chars who I envisioned as a strong fighter got the double-whammy. He is weak and novice. LOL Oh well, he'll just have to "retire" and tell tales as a tavernkeep. I do think the change will be good. Maybe people will be interested in some of the other weapons besides just crossbows and battleaxes.

There's nothing new here. It's merely an adjustment of the relative contribution of extant components, skill and strength.

Strength is now visible as skill is, so you've more motivation to your choices. I fail to see why it's a problem there's now more difference between weapons that are made with the same materials and give similar hit values.

The only problem i see is that you need to change the fighting skill thingy then, to incorperate all these changes in it.

Has anyone els noticed that I've been sounding more "official" in my posts? I mean, it's CRAZY.

I love this... One of my characters with expert skill in fighting and is much stronger than average dealt a 52% damage to a newspawn with a Steel sabre. So, he will have no problems in defending his town. :D

Little has changed for your char. Very strong experts will still do closer to max damage with any weapon.

Yes but before this you could only deal out a maximum of 48% (i think it was) with a crossbow. Or have i gotten all this wrong?

There have always been very strong experts who deal in the high 60s, or even higher, with a crossbow. Ask Spider, or 15454.

I have one that hit close to 60's with a claymore before the change. I don't know if the change will change that much or not for that char. It's not a much stronger than average char though, just stronger (and expert).

The noticeable change should be for weak experts and for the strong and awkward. They'll have to take care in chosing their weapons, but should see reward if they do. If you've already a strong char who has good skill and a good weapon, continue to feel lucky.

Heh, I just had one character talking about how he can't hurt tortoises, then he hit one and dealt 13% damage. This change has confused him alot ;)
