There's one problem in being a villain.

You can rob people but only by killing them. you cant rob someone you have killed already.

After a certain number of robberies, you have your inventory full of stuff. Valuable stuff maybe, but you cant use it in any way. You'd need a currency. And there must be better stuff around to buy with that. (in case you havent robbed it yet)

You will leave witnesses. People who escaped, or people who you just didnt notice... In either way. People get to know you. And they don't like villains. So they start to hunt you.

So the only way for a thief and robber is to leave the island you have plundered is in a boat, and start on another Island. but what to do with the loot you have already?

So, Villains must be organized. They should have a well defended location to stash their loot. So there should be building. Which you have to build. Unfortunatly building things is working. Villains dont like that. They like to rob things not makin them. But when you leave such a pirate's nest, other pirates might rob you.

I had a criminal once. he stole some goods, killed someone, had his pockets full of loot but what to do with it? Nah... being a villain is fun, but only for a short time. This game isnt made for thieves. No fun in being a thief.

Maybe by the time he has ran out of places to rob he would have attracted enough followers so that he name himself the Bandit King and rule the island in sort of like theives guild fashion.

And then he wouldnt be a bandit anymore but a politician. And his followers would fight him instead?

No, he wouldn't be a politician. Not all leaders are politicians. He would mostly be considered a bandit but just the king of bandits or their leader.

The fun is seeing how long you can stay one step ahead of those hunting you, which is why most villians don't make it very far...they don't think far enough ahead, playing a successful villian is just as hard or harder then playing civilized city folk.

I'd say harder, unless of course the villain you are playing is working with the system.

Working against a system is indeed harder IMO

The best Villans are those with boats. A boat is a great tool when you have a villan. You are invinsible if you have enough food. Too bad the only one of my characters with a boat is on a lake and another one who is riding in a boat is also on a lake. I'm hoping that Olip will allow me to get out of the lake as Olip borders both the lake and the sea. At least I hope it's a sea I can see it on the location map, but I'm not sure if I can get their or not.

I think boat thieves are the most cowardly people around and exploiting the game. They can jump out of their boat, do anything to anyone not locked down, then jump back in their boat and sail away before anyone can blink.

People that run down a path can be chased and shot at, people that lock themselves i buildings can be busted in on, but those boat thieves are pretty much ghosts.

They need to make sure not to strike the same location twice, because if their boat docks and they arent signed on, its curtains!

My character has killed about 4 or more boat thieves.

I disagree.

For one thing, it is possible to leave NO witnesses.

It's been done
it's just hard.

but you're right...once you've got what you want there's a big temptation to go legit.

also, it confuses the hell out of people.
