I don't have a lot of sweaty blacksmith friends. That is when you kick everyone else out and get new friends... :P

Uff...I didn't expect so many replies :?
Well, RP is main engine of this game. That's why it is necessary and that's why we love this game. It is perfectly clear and we don't need to discuss about that. But where is a limit when we use our imagination and RL knowledge to make a good RP?
It's absolutely desirable to use RL knowledge about stuff existing in the game, but not unlimited. You see, we are all using our RL knowledge about buildings while RP but also accepting that there is no windows on that buildings in the game, and nobody is trying to RP about them. There is a lot of other examples (weather, night, colors, wounds, fighting...) and I don't see any reason to be different with beer, alcohol or trees on the grassland. We must accept that drinking is not implemented in the game. Our characters are never thirsty. It is not excuse to RP drunkenness just because it is so funny. Why we never RP to drink water? Let's be self consistent players.
Personally, I can't wait for drinking and smoking to be implemented (I hope there will be a few things for smoking  ) but I must be patient and accept that beer is still just another healing food, alcohol is kind of fuel (check the wiki) and there is no trees on grassland.
Of course, I can use imagination and my character will jump on tree if there is any coco (never mind if there is no wood on location) but I can't suppose that there MUST be at least one three just because neighboring location is a forest. I can't allow myself to suppose things which are not generally supposed in the game. I can't suppose and RP that there is two or three suns in the Cantr just because there is never night.
There is a lot of ways to use imagination in the game and be funny. If you are not sure that there is some tree, jump in the bush, hang from the rooftop, ride some animal, you can have your own cow :) . Don't be selfish, use your imagination on the right way.
After all, this is just my opinion and I'm sure this will not change your RP but I hope you'll at least think a little bit deeper about use of imagination and RL knowledge while RP.

I used to think like you, sortof, being far more strict in what rp I allowed myself, or thought others should allow. So far as not saying phrases if the object didn't exist in Cantr. "This ring a bell?" Nope, don't say that, we don't have bells in Cantr. Okay, bad example, because I still wouldn't do that. But after playing for years, the imagination has to take the lead in many cases, just to keep things interesting. Yes, beer in rl causes drunkenness, so rping that effect makes total sense to me. Rp'ing getting stoned from smoking hemp or even just grass..........that was hilarious! But of course kept private, because not many would appreciate it (mostly because there isn't any substance in Cantr that gets you high) If marajuana were introduced, damn right I'd rp the effects, regardless if the mechanics of the game did it for me or not.

Bokez, do you think that we shouldn't rp our charries swimming, because game mechanics don't allow them to swim. i.e. physically enter the water? If we only allowed our characters to do what the game mechanics allowed for, this game would be very boring with no imaginative rp whatsoever.
I will rp the sun too bright, the moon and stars beautiful, the water very rough today, the wind picking up and blowing my hair, and I will believe a character that sees a bruise on my arm if I'm injured, if I haven't rp'd another injury to explain it. Imagination is what keeps this game interesting, with the small things. I wish more players did this, and I wish that sometimes I did it more.

Ah, I knew you'll mention swimming :D
RP'ing swimming in the sea and lake don't have any side effect on the game or other players, it's generally supposed, so I RP swimming...but not in the spiderman fashion. I'll not jump 15 meters in the air from a moving ship, fall in the water after triple open somersault, swimming only with left hand and right leg, breathing under the water and jump back on the ship after three days because I know that'll have effect on other players...bad effect.
I RP the sun is too bright, water is rough, wind in my hair, even about moon and stars (it's possible to see them even if it's not absolutely night) but I don't RP about scars after I heal my wounds, the others can't see them.
I just can't RP drinking beer, because after "drinking" my character still have beer in inventory. Only possible way to RP drunkenness (for me) is if one of my character is hurt so he can eat beer to heal himself and then start feeling strange airiness and inebriation.

Man, or you didn't see any well in your life or I'm too old for this game. Why it's so funny to make other players mad? For me that's sabotage of the game.

P.S.
I have a great solution for LAG problem! Let's remove all animals from the game, all tools, weapons, vehicles and all projects...leave us only login and logout. We'll RP everything :D !

I thought this was a fart dissertation

Don't put a restrain to your imagination. Because everything in Cantr comes from RL you have to mix and blend, spice with creativity and take advantage of situations and of what others say.

Mine are closed and so dirty you can't see tru them.

My charries do get thirsty. They drink everything... from swamp waters to alcohol. Some of them smoke spinach and I rp all the process... from forging a joint to lighting it. I don't care much about implementation in this chapter.

As for the trees. Not all are good to wood cutting and that's why they can't be seen as a resource. There are trees in many places if you learn how to look, just like the bushes you mentioned.

I think you're the one being selfish because you expect everyone to rp like you want them to and this game is great because we all give part of us with our personal way to rp. I don't think there is such a thing as a "right" way to use imagination.

When I said "right way to use imagination" I was thinking on finding a way to amuse other players but also leave them enough open space so you can be sure that you are not corrupting their own playing. If your basic idea is drunkenness then wait for your character to be hurt, eat beer and then RP it. Is it selfish?

I believe it's selfish when you think only how to amuse yourself.

Hence the word "selfish."
Notice how weak and petty we are / In the grand fixture we come afar / Hey we can't help it / No denying the prerequisite for love / Your very existence / You're the source of my substenance / Slow down take your time and feel the / Flow

LV was annoying some time ago so I went inside but then I had to come out and things seem to have calmed down. I don't quite get everything that's going on but at least people aren't bickering anymore.
