I see dead people....

Postby BlackRose » Sat Jan 08, 2005 3:41 am

And then of course, I can't forget my dead:
(in order of death):

Jessica Gothess: locked into a house in Longinazy Forest after some newspawn came and accused her of theft in some other region she'd never been in.

Jessica Gothyrin: Replacement Jessica, she died because she was in the middle of nowhere being killed by animals.

Wynd Singer: A sweet Native-American from Karnon Fields, she enjoyed hunting buffalo so much that she had to have a storage unit just for the bones and hide and such from all her hunting, and of course she had a hide bikini and fur cloak, along with all the bone tools and jewelry that you could make with nothing more than a hammer and needle. I think she had a crush on Juice Soanso, because she followed him to Karnon to mine stone where she ended up dieing right when that hunger/tiredness/strength thing was added. She was my ultimate favourite, and I'd JUST gotten in to actually role-playing her. :(

Thomas: Named after a crush o' mine, he came to Karnon Fields on his way around the island right as Wynd was leaving. He didn't really like her, and looked down on her... He was a casanova, having a fling the first week he was spawned. If he'd lived to see his first year, he would've been a real lady's man, but he died at the same exact time in the Fields as Wynd died in Karnon.... Hm, maybe their spirits were connected somehow. Or maybe that hunger thing was just murdering lots of people.

Sarrah: Just plain ole Sarrah, who could normally be found harvesting corn in Kii or Zuzi (forget which?) since she left somewhere else (I think Kirrin or Zuzi? Zuzi ties in here somewhere!)... until she left Kii or Zuzi and headed into the Knatr Mountains, claiming a small part as PIRATE LAND, and trying to kill passers-by. Unfortunately she was dumb and didn't leave before the animals killed her.

So those're all I've lost YET, but I think I may lose another girl unless someone gives her food, or Death Angel can run errands very fast (she's got to walk between two towns in about two days, with 2k g of stuff)

Lorri Filkins Not well Known, Nor Did I like Her she dies fairly quickly after I made my new account and is my first character to die since I started back on day 500. I forget what she died from starvation I think. She had to travel between 20 places and not one of them had edible food.

Stacy Artega: Citizen of Pok. She died when someone cam ein with a Sabre and killed everyone. Not exactly sure why and am still not sure today.

Adam Jenson another character who was killed by thieves. IT was just the start of when pirates and thieves seemed to outnumber normal people on Cantr. Another character to have had a short life.

JoeL One of my Social Experiment Characters. He constantly spoke backwards (IE Hello I am Joe = eoJ ma I olleH) When he was in Moku people accepted him but pirates attacked and he fled to Moku (south) where he was again attacked by a different group of pirates and killed for being "possesed".

Jesse Hunt A character I didn't know what to do with for about 2 months, but as soon as I find a purpose he dies. HE was wondering around until he got mugged by a really bad thief with only a slingshot. Jesse laughed at first, but decided to join him in hopes to one day "repay" him for the shots he took. However when he was gathering healing foods another thief came by and killed him.

In conclusion. there have been far too many thief/pirate characters. I personally don't have any and Only Jesse has ever though about becoming one and that was just to get revenge on the guy he was joining. Of course I do have another character who has stolen things, but only to save his life.

Hey I think... I saw this Sarrah. With Jaina. *sigh* Jaina was really sad and she asked what's wrong, but it was on the road so even though she turned back to explain, she couldn't find her anymore...

I would say quite the opposite...there are too few such characters. Of course that's just my random sampling, but as far as I've seen msc. bandits only threaten people who are very inactive and a handful of the people who persistently go off into the wilderness alone and under-equipped. And a small menace to costal cities, but that can be dealt with.

I'd like to see life get a lot harder on the soft townsfolk, though most of my characters aren't working in that direction.

me on the other hand...

I have a character who is currently plotting to take over whatever Island he is on by forming a clan and slowly taking over each village. The only problem is that he has spawned in the mountains and has just now found a sizeable town that lacks the proper stuff to make a weapon.

There are temporarily quite a few weapons of a very damageable degree in that town, which would be sold at the right price.

I don't suggest revealing plots, because if you lack the sense to keep your mouth on a need to know basis, it would drastically increase your chances at success.

Are you kidding? A small menace? I have seen entire villages meet their doom by a single pirate...and even the Seatown-Drojf-Krif region with all it's able warriors and organized defences had huge problems with the pirates. (This was of course before the tiredness was introduced...but if you are going to attack a large town like Krif you should have to be a large and experienced pirate crew...not two "men in their twenties" who just stole a ship and picked some longbows up from a corpse.)

Yeah, well the last would-be pirate I saw stole notes. He was too tired to do anything else. Eve Desmond has the details IC.

I've noticed you guys are starting to live in the past. It's a sort of generational thing. "In my day, young lad, there were wars and pirates... *wheezes as she polishes the knob of her cane*"

Speaking of which, is it just me or has the politcal advancement of Cantr slowed? I would think with tiredness, people would be more likely to pursue non-project things, like government. Or am I just not in "the loop"?

Governments can advance much if they don't progess. "Look at our shiney new Aqueduct!" But, since everyone is sooooooooo tired, nothing is getting done. Some places people are so tired, they barely can get enough to eat.

A goverment that does nothing can't become anything.
Reality was never my strong point.

Agar>

But then again, with a good government things can be organized so that everyone doesn't just work for themselves...

But for some reason I always think republics or democracies in Cantr have been run by the sleepiest people in the entire game...

Those kinda government only get sleepy people at critical moments, like when you need to get in to some building or when a thief arrives and you can't drag them anywhere because it was much more democratic to give one person the keys.

I always favoured the brute force of a dictatorship, nice ones obviously but still brutal.
