I mean from what I've read here I get the impression she's not just killing characters for fun but just really strict about enforcing the laws, though I could be completely wrong.

Naedell certainly does have a reputation that isn't entirely deserved, but at the same time she can be quite a harsh and cruel person. To be fair, one character of mine had helped cause the accidental death of her friend whilst not exactly appearing remorseful for it, whilst the other on hasn't committed a crime, but was joking about attacking a Tribe member with a waster, which apparently gets you an arm amputation.

I was talking more about Laila actually, Naedell on the other hand I have heard of and yeah it does seem she can be a little on the psycho side.

I was talking about the "reputation" part mostly, because Naedell does have one. A character of mine who has never met a Blackrock thinks they're a bunch of violent savages based on what he's heard from a couple of people who lived under them.

Well, you murder enough people on a whim and don't bother to kill the witnesses too and you're going to get that kind of reputation regardless, it was basically the same for the Stone Knights. What's more annoying is when that attitude starts bleeding over into characters that shouldn't even be effected, which I used to see a lot.

But anyway, I'm going to abruptly change subject now.

Seko posted that awesome chart on dragging a few pages back, which reminds me that I've always wondered at some of the other skill mechanics. (It annoys me not to know so this is totally on topic. :))

I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that wasters are better than other weapons as far as improving your fighting skills go...does the same apply to strength? And does practicing with a heavily skill-weighted weapon opposed to a strength-weighted one mean you improve one more than the other?

And in regards to non-combat skills, does that go by the hour or by project completely or what? What I'm trying to figure out is, theoretically would it be better to repeat a thousand tiny projects, or just work on one big project for ten years straight? Or does it matter at all? (leaning towards this last as the answer because skills don't seem to improve enough to ever matter no matter how much a character practices...)

As far as I know, the only thing that has an affect on how much training you receive is the amount of strength (% of force) you put into an attack. I'm not sure how much skill increase is given to strength versus fighting but I would expect that increase to be the same, regardless of weapon choice. You can also train strength by hunting.

I'm pretty sure you get a skill increase per tick on projects. I think it's more a preference whether you want to do one large project versus repeating smaller ones. Personally, I try to balance out that 20% random deviation by doing smaller projects rather than a huge one and risk taking a 20% cut.

Stone Knights aren't murderers unless you mess with them or the forests but I guess that should stay in game and not on the forums.

Well I don't know how they are now but an organization that's been around that long goes through phases. My earliest experience with them was having a character in a different location when a couple of knights rolled up, threatened the town and attacked a few random citizens to make some kind of point. Not the greatest first impression, though I've also seen individuals in the organization since then who didn't seem too bad.

Do we know if dragging people raises strength too? I know dragging huge piles of resources apparently doesn't.

As far as I know, hitting animals absolutely does help raise strength. I don't know if training with people does.

What irritates me more than anything I think is when certain players decide to throw in their ooc biases on certain characters or groups into their rp to make an excuse to get involved in a situation that their characters in normal circumstances wouldn't involve themselves into.

I see this so often with those that hate the stone knights, those that hate the macgregors, those that hate the blackrocks. Then it becomes a Oh one of them killed me so my character automatically believes everything anyone against them has to say because "everyone knows how they are" despite not knowing ANYTHING about EITHER side of a situation. It's the mentality of "Let me go just jump into a fight now that I have a good excuse to get around it and get some revenge". And those that do it don't seem to realize people see right through it. You don't know how many times I see this and it irritates me every time, But what will be, will be.

Hey, 4 day rule.

And to get away from a potentially touchy subject, I'm puzzled at how easily Cantrians can tell each others ages at a glance, when so many people, now matter how old they are, are still perfectly fit and as smoking hot as they were when they were twenty.

I don't believe anything in my comment pointed out any specifics of an ongoing situation.

I've had a Blackrock, a Stone Knight, and a MacGregor all as characters, and enjoy those clans for what they are, and what they contribute to the game, even though the Stone Knights can be overly dramatic as hell, and weepy, and the MacGregors were pretty boring when I played among them.

Maybe it's OOC bias talking, but I think it'd be fun as frogs to jump into a fight with any of them.
