I felt that I was taken a little more seriously. When I play my male characters, other male members of the party will listen to me better, take me more seriously. In my male form I could give orders and have them listened to, where as a female, my characters aren't always taken quite as seriously.

I agree with the point about female chars getting more stuff handed to them. That's been a factor for choosing gender in several grinding type games I've played: if I want a free ride I'll make a female char, if I want to be left to my own devices to see how well I can do on my own I'll make a male char. Although, one game I used to play a lot, I couldn't stand the female's voice so I rarely chose that avatar.

I'm 50/50. Fun to play boys sometimes! ;-) And the types of charries they are is balanced too, loners/workes/well equipped, havent noticed much of a difference in attitude between males and females!
Something witty and humerous that some people won't get....

As our good friend Naedell Blackrock shows, violence is always taken seriously!

That's who I thought of also!

In Cantr, it doesn't seem to be harder to be taken seriously as a female. I guess unless you act as a stereotypical girly type, but in that case, you get an extreme amount of attention, from what I've seen.

Not including my first two characters who died from not knowing how to play, I created 7 female characters and 8 male characters early on. Afterwards I decided to no longer create female characters. However, only two have died (and one was saved from death twice before dying) In the mean time, 12 out of 20 male characters died. Each of my female characters are relatively successful and are taken seriously (except for my Spanish characters). Only two of my old male characters are still alive. I can think of cases where I probably would have died if not a female and wouldn't have if I was one.

Still, I'm male, so I don't think it would be right to make more female characters. Just the idea of a new one seems weird to me. Being old gives my female characters an excuse for acting the way they do.

Seriously, what is a stereotypical girly type?
Reveal to me the mysteries
Can you tell me what it means?
Explain these motions and metaphors
Unlock these secrets in me
Describe the vision, the meaning is missing
Won't anybody listen?

I'm talking about blinking eyelashes, waving hair, flirting, and acting fragile/dependent. There's two characters I have in mind as I'm writing this.

Maybe I'm toast, but I'm not saying the stereotype is true. I'm just saying it exists.

That's a good example, because it would be less likely to see a guy like that.

So just about everyone here has taken statistics huh?

Easy "A", I get it.

I am just waiting for someone to start mentioning the standard deviations that those of us who play primarily one gender are from the mean.

At the moment, I have 2 males and 5 females.
The first male is by no means developed in personality; thus I suck at roleplaying him.
The second male (sixth overall), after some contemplation, has nothing better to do than dig, live, sing, and even breathe limestone, so I'm not very good with him either, although I'm far better with him than my first.
My first female (second overall) I love roleplaying, even though she's not very much like she spawned right now. But she is SO much fun!
My second female is probably the second closest to how I'd intended to play her upon spawning. It's pretty sweet, though. She's also a lot of fun.
My third female is nothing like how I'd originally spawned her due to the fact that she spawned in one of the sleepiest locations in the whole game, I bet. Rather boring, but I don't mind it. It means I can spend more time scheming for her and playing my more fun, developed characters
My fourth and least favourite female is also my least favourite character. But she has a plan for me to be able to enjoy roleplaying her more.
And finally my fifth female is the most consistent. And because of where and how she spawned, she is a close second in how much fun I have roleplaying her.
I feel like I've said alll this before in some form, but I enjoy discussing characters probably far too much. Lol

I've had one character praised in the RP Praise and one character mocked in a PM to me (before they knew I was that character's player, but still).

So here are a few statistics, and I'll update this as I go along creating chars and chars die (which I hope most of them don't) and chars move on with their lives. Of course, with respect to the 4–day rule.

Males/Females :: 2:5 (28.571428% male)
Currently Living/Total :: 7/7 (100% original characters still alive)
RPing: Enjoy/Eh/Hate (out of the currently living) :: 3/3/1

My mom wants me to kill off my male characters because she thinks it's weird for me (a girl) to be roleplaying men, especially those in a relationship. I have four men, of which one is currently in a relationship with a woman. My other ten are female.

I was hoping to keep two of my male characters when I did my character cleanup. I guess I have no choice now. :(
