Maybe make a pump object to remove fuel. That would be kind of cool. Then you could sabotage vehicles by filling them with water or something.

Dispite realism, I regect the idea that cars without fuel should be as slow as walking- at least yet. Let people adjust actually needing feul first

One thing we might need to look into implementing is putting a lock on the vehicle fuel storage? If I've got a criminal in my vehicle, the first thing they'll do is go for the petrol to be a nuisance..

Good thinking, yes the fuel should need the same key that opens the vehicle to access.

Sorry for the bump, but I was just doing a bit of thinking about cars and fuel and wanted to get something clarified - would it be possible to take, say, a passenger car, put 200,000 grams of resources in it, run out of fuel and still be able to push it along at a regular walking speed?

Because if so, even without a drop of fuel it sounds like a car is still pretty useful.

No way!

An empty car with just you and one other in it moves incredibly slower than walking speed.

Yeah...tell me about it *grumbles*

Had a vehicle run out of fuel recently, talk about a total PITA but quite funny overall.

Hahaha definitely a PITA (took me a couple of seconds to figure out what that was lol) but if your characters can have a laugh about it, so be it.

It sucked that it was introduced and my characters died because of it.

Are the rates in place the official ones then or just something they're trying out? I'm interested in how they're calculated, like one person pushing an empty car vs. a car with another passenger vs. a car full of stuff, but unfortunately there's nothing in the wiki yet and I can't test it out with my own characters at the moment.

Your example of 300 hours seems a bit extreme, is that definitely not a bug? (I'm not sure if those are real or IG hours, it does make a difference...though IMO in the interests of not being too aggrivating it should take...I don't know, no more than twice the amount of time it would take you to walk carrying a full load? Discuss.

(though the thing I mentioned with being able to transport a huge load might be a problem...even at 50% walking speed it would be worth it)

Either way I doubt running out of fuel will be a regular thing, or at least I bet once it happens once people will be much more careful in the future.

I highly doubt there is any math to it and there is simply a static rate to make vehicles without fuel that need fuel move X slower then one person walking.

I like the idea, fuel will be key after a couple of more years cos the resources will fail, i think.
1. Fuelconsumption is rather high, my cars are often loaded above 80%, does load increase consumption?
2. I read consumption now is half of the intended level... do you mean the rate will be double? If so fire them fools!
3. It's not easy to find oil in your char's area, like gas it's an uncommon resource. This probably means a lot of chars will start making biodiesel which apart from taking a long time is hard to automate, i mean it's even more complicated than making steel and some of the projects involved can not be set up in large quantities.

I'm glad my char kept track of the tandem he built and still holds the key :D

Cars and motorcycles will become outdated and obsolete anyway, in the fantastical world of tomorrow, when Cantrian scientists invent a way to sit on a horse.

We need true biofule-engines where we can burn old notes, potatos and thieves to get us going on the roads.

 You will of course have to feed your horse.

You can burn potatoes already (after a few preparation steps). One out of three is not too bad, is it?

If we are gonna start burning things for fuel, I am so for the idea of burning prisoners!
