You can RP that hunt however you want and you are not relying on the system to display a event to everyone that agrees with what you RP your character doing.
Does this make sense? It is hard to explain...
I would like to see outcome events when people hunt. If this works like other projects, no one would have any idea you've been hunting unless you point it out via RP. Extreme scenario: someone could silently wipe out a species and no one would know unless they closely monitor the projects people are working on or actively watch the animal populations.

Or perhaps only when the level of animals drops.
"Due to XXXX's hunting the level of YYYY's present dropped from ZZZZ to NNNN."

We still don't know for sure how hunting will work, or be displayed. I still don't see this as a problem though, if a town cares about keeping any resource restricted the leader or guards will be monitering projects anyway. And I bet it would take a long time for one person to wipe a healthy population out, if they go unnoticed that long then that town probably has bigger problems then poaching.

Well it is the same way with restricted resources in towns now... Towns that have coal restricted for instances would know that someone is collecting coal unless they look at the projects page. Towns that really care about limiting a resource or animal have guards that keep an eye out on what people are doing.

I agree with that except.... Coal is an unlimited resource, the last living toucan is not. If someone digs coal without permission, it's not going to disrupt the town's way of life very much. And if someone does look up one day and notice all the deer have been killed, the poacher(s) can't be punished if there is no notice of who is hunting what. I don't think it's a valid argument to compare animals to resources that are unlimited. Unless the animal populations will become infinite with this change - then you can have my apologies for misunderstanding how the new system will work.

This is a valid point.

Yes, but even under the current system you could kill the last toucan instantly before they could do anything about it. In fact, the new project system would actually take some time to kill the toucan so they could wake up and stop you before you did it...

Yes, but:
1) Hunting projects will be short (under the current plan). Not instant, but short (1-2 hours).
2) It would become fairly annoying if you had to check every stranger's behavior every hour to save that last toucan (although it's better than what you have now - no chance at all).
Several things come to mind:
-A hover-over pop up that tells you what a person is doing (like in FTO). We currently have it for the custom notes box when hovering over the person's name in events. We could add the project pop-up over an icon in the person list. We could implement something like this now.
-Some kind of notification.
-Decreasing chances of success when hunting underpopulated animals. It's twice as easy to kill one toucan when there's two available, etc.
-Raise and breed the toucan in captivity. (This -will- be implemented with domestication).

A question not really about the topic, but more or less about the topic..
Shouldn't this have been in 'suggestions' all this time?

I like all three of these ideas a whole lot! Especially the last two.
