Zanthos you bring an interesting point there...Adding some kind of "timeline" or "history of the islands" to the wiki would be great indeed, but it'd require some work from the more experienced members.

Currently that won't be possible. The infomation in the wiki is deliberately limited to game mechanics

In-game histories should be developed in the game and left in the game

Wiki Main Page wrote:Just a basic rule that is essential: These pages are about any out-of-character information on the game and on how to play the game. In-character information, like personal histories or maps of the Cantr world, is NOT allowed on these pages. As a rule of thumb, you can simply say that no characters' names or location names should ever appear on any of these pages.

This is a rule endorsed by the Game Administration Council

There has been one in-game history/story about a group of events published in the webzine and a vetted history could (IMO) be published there

Right, Chris. I kept trying to remember why I believed that a timeline wasn't allowed in the wiki...

Don't worry everyone. History will be written....by the winners.

I'm sure there are a lot of other examples, but the one that Marian often refers to in Zhift Forest helped most people realize the damage that can be done by discussing things too soon.

Yeah, that alone is what put me off wanting to discuss characters or IC stuff on the forums ever again. And just to put it in perspective, the whole thing was pretty much a joke compared to some of the other stuff that's happened in game (Barons/TBR. etc.) A couple of people with spears chase off a guy with a composite recurve bow. Big whoop. It seriously effected maybe five whole characters, but just look at the way it gone blown so far out of porportion on the forum. (what happened afterward that never got discussed OOC was at least a little more interesting and took longer to resolve)

Now take that and apply it to and event that effects an entire island, and any forum discussion/argument would turn into a nightmare unless everyone had time to calm down and look at things more objectivley first.

That's not a fair representation of events as I saw them... the principle problem was that a player directly broke the CR and because another player didn't like it and didn't get the response they bought it into game...

CRB reports do not follow the 4 day rule so its an irrelevance

Those IC events were discussed to death on the CR forum..........that doesn't make it alright. There should be little to no discussion there. You're right, CRB's don't follow the 4 day rule, but that type of discussion surrounding them certainly should.

Please don't take this as a personal criticism but I believe more prompt action in dealing with the CRB would have negated the need for discussion. I don't remember the PD even saying the player was in the wrong even when he did it a second time...

Perhaps using the forum to report CRB is a mistake in anycase...?

It is preferrable to email the PD directly, yes. And it was dealt with, though not on the forum. We deal individually with players, and do not tend to discuss the cases on the forum as a rule. (I also think that was during a time when we had very low PD staff membership/activity lvls - that has now been rectified)

Well after a certain incident today I think there might be at least one player and two or more of their chars still holding a grudge...

Will it ever be? I mean if we are going to be this picky why don't we just ban all talk about event's in game on the games forum. :? That would make sense, right? I thought it was a little ridiculous to begin with but still no talk now?
