Re: Sex!
I've seen lots of different playing styles regarding sex. Some like to write huuuge long paragraphs, usually people who can't get online at the same time of the day as the other player, so they have to make the scene advance or it would take weeks to finish. Others write very short, usually single sentence posts (or in the worst case I've seen, one or two words) and expect the scene to progress only when both players are online. They want it to advance fast and disregard quality, although I've also seen at least one who can write a sentence or two in response to my full paragraph and still be perfect and wonderful.
- If a character is violent during sex and your character doesn't like it that way, you can tell them IC because it's normal for most people not to like it rough, so it wouldn't be unusual if your character shared your real-life views. If the character is really as nice as they appear in public, they would tone it down to make their partner happy even if they required something rougher to get off, while if they can't deal with it, they'll go looking for something else. Actual abusers are rare, as far as I'm aware. Most people want the other person to enjoy it too.
- The you thing is creepy but usually people are ready to change if you tell them it creeps you out, although they might slip back into it occasionally if they forget.
Generally if I think someone's writing is painfully awkward, I'll avoid having a second time with them, although I had a character spend years in an unsatisfactory relationship just because he needed it, even though he acknowledged that she was bad. Then I have someone who's really bad at spelling, so that I occasionally need to edit their posts in notepad before writing a reply to them since the bad spelling distracts me so badly.
I'm surprised that there are people who expect sex scenes to only happen when both players are online, or to be finished in one day. Maybe it's because I'm never playing with people from my own timezone but it's very rare for me to have something finish in one day. It's annoying if someone assumes you have fallen asleep just because you had to go offline. I think the pauses should be ignored. Only if someone goes idle for days I might force an early ending or fade to black.

Just had a thought--on fade to black, would you just do the elipses and expect them (the other player) to catch on, or would you actually have to say something like "*fades to black*"? That seems rather awkward to me, as it would assume you can control light or vision.

Re: Sex!
One time way back one of my characters was doing it with someone and the foreplay had been really amazing so my character was very turned on, but the grinding part tends to get boring and repetitive, so I wanted to fast-forward through it by making her come in the first reply after he had put it in her. But the other player basically ignored her reaction and kept going as if nothing had happened, because according to his comment on YIM, it seemed fake that someone would come so fast when from his perspective he had only stuck it in her and not really started thrusting yet. That pretty much spoiled the mood. Nobody wants their rp brushed away like it was worth nothing.

Re: Sex!
That reminds me of one of my chars finding out after his girlfriend died that she was faking her orgasms. She left a diary. He was too kind and gentle while she wanted it very rough.
There is no rule that says I can't post as much I want. I asked my lawyer.

Ah, I know who you play. *slaps him* Get over it!
Back on topic: I guess when all is said and done, I wouldn't engage in it if I wasn't familiar with the player. I know all the players of my character's partners, at least by reputation on the forum.

Actually I find it amusing she did that. My char doesn't of course.
Also a long time ago most of my chars were very active sexually. At one point I was busy with three sex rp at the same time. Now I rp sex a few times a week and I like it better that way.

Re: Sex!
Haha, I can't even remember when my characters had it last time. They do get horny occasionally but it's usually not a good moment. Two of my characters have rather sleepy wives, two are polygamous with more-than-usual sleepiness and other distractions getting on the way lately, one has a very sleepy boyfriend that I wouldn't even count on to wake up anymore and one is married but stopped having sex out of a mutual agreement years back. The other 6 are single.

Re: Sex!
Most of my chars have had (or are having) sex, in a way or another. One of my female chars had three lovers, and the three of them died (she's still 29), so she has started to think that her love kills... Curiously, she is my most loving char, but right now she's so afraid of killing someone again, that she's not sure about if she could have sex again, and it's afraid of loving someone again.
In general, the sex my chars have is so different from one another. They have had explicit sex, rough sex, tender sex, "artistic" sex...
Personally, I enjoy much more playing "erotism" than "explicit sex".

Yeah...
Can you explain?
If you're so curious, maybe one of your chars should meet one of mine...
I wrote "artistic", between quotes. I'm referring to the words used to describe what's happening. I must thank a player for allowing me to discover that.

Re: Sex!
In Real life an healthy couple should have sex more than once per week, yet in Cantr I never had sex twice with the same character (although that's mostly because of pirates and lithuan wars).
Just wondering how "healthy" are your couples? Sometimes I get the feeling doing it once in cantr counts for about 3 years of doing it in real life.
