I think it's completely reasonable to give a name for a language or a group of foreigners to separate them from "us", but I dislike the use of actual real life nationalities and language names, unless it's similar to the word in the original language (like russkij -> Russian) and your character has actually heard the people use the word of themselves or their language. The character I had living among Russians tended to call them Ruskies, but other people tend to say Russian, which is phonetically a bit more distant. The difference is those people didn't develop a word based on what they heard, they used a real-world term and took a shortcut. It's hard to keep innovative terminology alive when so many people use real-world information they didn't find out in-game.

Does anyone remember kaka people for Swedish? Because they had cookies, which they called kaka, something alien for the savages of Omeo.
